Absolutely one of the greatest baseball players who ever lived. I’ve been a fan of his ever since I read his biography in grade school. RIP Willie.

Scott Miller was 64, killed by an illegal immigrant.
Rachel Morin was 37, killed by an illegal immigrant.
Laken Riley was 22, killed by an illegal immigrant.
The Garcia Family were ages 31 to 9, five killed by an illegal immigrant.

Met him on the tee at a celebrity pro-am in the 80’s. Smiling, enjoying life, which he deserved.
I assume he played at Ricketts field in the negro league, where the MLB is hosting a game this weekend (iirc)...wish he could have seen that.

Few players were the complete package of Willie Mays. He could do it all. Hit for power AND average, run and steal bases and play centerfield probably only second to Tris Speaker.
Very similar fielding statistics for both of these greats and I give Speaker a slight edge only because of equipment advances between gloves of the 1920s versus 40 years later.
If I were to select 25 players for the greatest of all time roster, it would most certainly include Willie Mays.
