“Stalingrad (1993 film)”

Thomas Kretschmann is like in every recent movie about WWII.

There was a Russian movie “Stalingrad” a few years ago...and...Kretschmann was in that, too.

Despite the Director of the movie, ‘The Pianist’ should be on the list.

Another one worth checking out is the 1964 Italian/Russian film “Italiani Brava Gente” (”Attack and Retreat” in the US). Very similar to Vilsmaier’s “Stalingrad” but features Italian soldiers.

Just for laughs “The Fall Of Berlin”, with its over the top Stalin worship. Even Khrushchev bashed it in his “Secret Speech”.

Where is Mission to Moscow, Hollywood’s ode to the commies and Uncle Joe Stalin when the Soviets became our “allies”? Jack Warner was so embarrassed by this that he made the ani-commie Fatima movie as an act of atonement.

Haven’t seen that one, but for slobbering over Stalin see “Mission to Moscow”. Need major barf bucket for that one.

I found Black Book horribly depressing, naked van Houten notwithstanding. So much killing, mostly of good guys. Half the good guys turned out to be bad guys, everyone betraying everyone else!

I think many people have the same opinion of that film...

But, I still enjoyed BLACK BOOK...
