An article from 10 years ago, but I have only met one nice cat in my life, tortoise shell calico, 15 years ago that was nice to me.
Cat lovers flame away

the cat is thinking... I will eat you if you die.

I’ve lived with cats since I was a kid. Every last one of them sweet & loving. They all have their quirks, same as people.
I’ve told this story before on FR as well as other venues, but one more time:
A friend was going to veterinary school, but took a class in psychology (human, that is). One day the professor came in & spoke directly to the women in the class:
“Ladies, if your boyfriend doesn’t like animals, DUMP him. If he likes dogs, he’s probably okay. If he likes cats, STALK him.”
In other words, cat-loving guys are the best. I was lucky to have a cat-loving guy for 25 years.

It depends on when they're spayed or neutered: if it's early enough they retain more of their kitten like behavior. Plus a few outliers of course. But most cats have the Pauley from Goodfellas attitude: "F--- you. Pay me."

Cats are just welfare recipients. They could easily go out and hunt for food on their own, but we opened the cat food tin and they saw their opportunity to get a free lunch, snag rays on the window sill and act like surly adolescents.

I read this article. I gleaned nothing from it. I know more about cats than this person. These thoughts are all over the internet and well know. He certainly did not have to ‘study’ cats to get them.
Cats as well as dogs can get a soul connection to you but I have definitely felt a deeper connection from a cat.

Cats see through everyone. Dogs will fawn over anyone who pats their head and feeds them. Cats choose you on merit, you are never allowed to choose them.
You can beat a dog and he will cower but he will still lick your hand if you feed him. Try that with a cat. If they could kill you for it they would but you really aren't worth their trouble so they will just crap in your shoes while you are asleep.
Cats can be loyal but it is up to them and it is not about food. I've been working in the garden all day. My little gang has been pretty close by all day for no reward at all.

To a dog, you’re family.
To a cat, you’re staff.
Ken Davis (Christian comedian)
Funny how cats settle on a person that doesn’t like cats (like my wife) and showers them with attention.

I love animals and I admire people who like and care for animals.
I especially love dogs and birds.
Cats, and I know many very nice people like them, cats are blood thirsty bird murderers, and they love to make their prey suffer for their own amusement.
In my foothill neighborhood, we had dozens of quail, robins, dove, and several other bird species. Then a cat-owing neighbor moved in, and in very short order, all the quail and dove and robins are gone.

Monday night this week, I stayed at Heidiâs Inn in Ilwaco, WA. They have a motel cat in the lobby that is the friendliest cat Iâve ever seen. When I was checking in, he wouldnât leave me alone. Itâs really rare to find a cat that friendly with strangers, especially when having to deal with a steady stream of strangers.
Our local hardware used to have a very mellow orange tabby store cat. He would snooze on top of the big old CRT computer monitor. He loved having customers dote on him and scratch him behind his ears.

No, I’m not reading any article that claims to know what animals are thinking. It’s ridiculous.

Cat's love me and always have. I've never met one that didn't warm up to me very quickly, in fact, usually almost immediately.
