Since when did The Blaze become a pay site?

Probably since they got rid of all the obnoxious ad pop-ups.

I don't have sufficient knowledge about raw milk to have an opinion if it is better, safer, or not safe.

The one thing I do have a valid opinion on: whether or not to drink raw milk SHOULD BE UP TO THE CONSUMER, not the government or "milk lobby."

Lactose intolerance.

Did you know 90% of people with Asian lineage cannot drink cow’s milk without losing a day to intestinal upset? That is correct. 90%. Look it up.

If you are not Asian, but are older, you become more lactose intolerant. You can do a search for cheeses that have more or less lactose.

There is more to the dairy thing than bacteria.

Maybe that is why they prefer ultra pasteurized which also doesn’t need to be refrigerated. As long as it is heated, which is the norm in France. I prefer UHT personally since that usually means organic, in America at least.

I didn’t milk cows on a daily basis but I had raw milk quite often growing, recently I found a farmer at a local farmers market selling raw milk, my only mistake was buying only the half gallon instead of the whole gallon she was selling.

People against drinking raw milk have likely never had raw milk, it’s like a lot of food, it will spoil if you don’t keep it refrigerated, otherwise it’s fine to drink, I’ve had it basically right out of the cow.

It’s creamier than pasteurized whole milk, it’s easy to make butter from raw milk.

I equate this argument to people against eating pork from wild hogs versus farm raised pork. Hogs in the wild are eating things that come natural to them, not food containing steroids, etc., wild pork is fine to eat, same for venison, etc.

The ignorance in the comments here is stunning. Freerepublic is not what it once was. The intercultural level of FRepers pales in comparison to previous years.

First, people on this forum seem to reply without even reading the article. And the opinions they spout are nearly totally uninformed.

Second, the issue about government control over consumer rights is totally lost on these mindless “conservatives” who want to prattle on about how “free” they are. Give me a break.

It’s hard to believe that there are others here who weren’t raised with raw milk. We had a dairy farm and drank nothing else. The dinner table had a pitcher of milk on it at every meal. I am a long way from those days - years away - and I still drink milk daily but not raw..simply because it’s not available. I was one of four siblings and the only one who continued to drink milk in later years...I was the youngest and they’re all gone now..

Exactly.

My daughter had terrible eczema. I started her in raw milk and she has the most gorgeous hair and skin now. And I use the local, grass-fed Jersey raw milk to ferment kefir and yogurt, too. It’s been years since we started buying raw milk and the health benefits are amazing.

Store bought milk, both pasteurized and ultra pasteurized, is highly processed garbage that truly has made people sick, just like so much of the standard America diet.

But the morons glued to their TV propaganda will continue to lecture you like you’re the ignorant one. 🙄

A1 vs A2 is important but a separate issue.

The issue with raw milk is that the pasteurization process destroys the natural enzymes that enable digestion.

As a general rule, absolutes are (almost) never true, and that is the case with raw milk. To claim that raw dairy is only harmful and there are no benefits to consuming it is a clue the government, dairy lobby, and so-called “experts” are not being honest with you.

Everything has pros and cons. We live in a society where one size fits all. Something is either good or bad, not particular to you or your situation.

Grew up with raw milk, good stuff. Wouldn’t sell or give to anyone these days, for fear of getting sued.

When is the last time anyone heard of Brucellosis in humans in the US?

Thank you, pasteurization.

Here is some info on what raw milk sellers have to go thru in order to o gain a license in PA.

Personally, I think your fears are baseless. But you can continue to believe the CDC and FDA if you’d like.

Knowledge is power. And information is your friend

I have noticed that dairy farm kids who are exposed to all the filth of farm animals, generally eat from the garden, drink unprocessed well water and drink their own farm milk, at the healthiest kids going.

The immune system needs to be trained to fight disease and not slip into an allergic response kind of mode.

I’ve also heard that homogenizing milk is terrible for you. The homogenization process breaks the fat down into such tiny particles that it cannot come back together to rise to the topo. The theory is, and I don’t know that if it has been proven, that the fat particles are so small that they can pass through the lining of the stomach or intestines without being digested, thus the fat goes directly into the blood stream.

Thanks for the link.

The question now is, what is someone who is an adult who has food sensitivity issues to do? Can they rectify the situation or are they stuck for life?

FWIW, our family has been drinking raw milk for decades.

There's a world of difference between that that the white, cardboard tasting solution they pass off as milk in the grocery stores.

Raw milk is often better tolerated. It’s pasteurized milk that lacks the lactase for lactose digestions.
