“It’s honestly a little bit embarrassing because I’m literally applying for, like, minimum-wage jobs,”
English as she is goodly spoken.
I’ve been telling people for years that Made in America means paying American prices. I try to buy domestically, even if it costs a bit more.
> It doesn’t take long to get a teaching certificate once one has a college degree. <
That’s a really good suggestion. And if you can get into a decent school district, it can be a nice career. I myself spent decades teaching in an urban school district. It wasn’t too bad when I first started. It was horrible by the time I retired. The whole environment had changed, and for the worst.
So get that teaching certificate. But stay out of urban schools. Ignore their fancy (and dishonest) recruitment pitches. Stay out of urban schools.
“since all the schools need bi-lingual teachers now”
English as a Second Language teachers
The current crop of invaders is d i v e r s e.
I was called stupid by another Freeper for doing just that.
“‘We’re not hiring’ and it’s like, ‘What?’ This is not what I expected.”
I would seem that she, like, believed the Bidenomics propaganda about plentiful jobs.
It is a hard thing to find out that work is simply not available. An old-fashioned way to get a job is by knowing somebody.
I’d better add something to my post #43. You mentioned the need for the bi-lingual teachers. You are correct. Math, natural science, and special education are also in demand, almost everywhere.
But other teaching fields are in low demand. Physical education, social studies (history), and elementary education are examples of low demand fields. So if someone is considering teaching, he/she needs to be aware of that.
Like, ever heard of the internet?
And I'm curious about the particulars of her CV.

It would seem that she, like, believed the Bidenomics propaganda about plentiful jobs. Sorry - employers don’t hire while staring into the teeth of “stagflation”.

Seems a bit fake. What kind of jobs is she looking for? Is her search at all targeted?
My friend’s son, who speaks one language (english) and majored in communications from a middling university, has 3 job offers in NY City. Pay isn’t good, but its enough to survive there, and he’ll get a foot in the door in his field of choice, marketing/finance
Karl Marx had a phrase for such Freepers, people who are willing to buy the rope on sale that will be used to hang them.
You need to circulate within your country in order for your country to prosper. If you insist on sending costs of a product offshore, because you are buying stuff made in China, domestically produced products eventually stop getting made and the only business you’ll have are poorly paid domestic retail.
Y’know...
Cue the Joker...

Some pretty heartless responses here. My daughter graduated with a business degree and it was a long hard slog to her first job. On the way, she also got offered no pay jobs, and got scammed in what was a fairly impressive operation. She got her first job and the pay is okay but she still waitresses to get help herself. I feel for this young lady and admire that she is out there pounding the pavement, whether her method is the best or not.
Well, at least she is trying to work.
Sounds like daddy is getting tired of subsidizing/paying for her city girl lifestyle.
That’s simple psychology - When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Exactly! But to do as the Romans do, is not always obvious.
Job seekers need to learn what they do and wear.
It is a lot harder today.
I remember moving to Dallas in the 1970s because I had a job offer in hand and it was something I really wanted to do.
However once I got there the guy reneged on me—had hit hard times and could not afford to hire me.
I bought the local Dallas Sunday newspaper and looked in the Want Ad section. It was page after page after page of job openings.
I had a decent paying job in a week—and upgraded from that in a month.
Dallas was booming in those days.
They all think they need to stream every aspect of their life for attention and validation.
