Lots of us like the human interest stuff. It’s not all politics 24/7 in a healthy mind.
I don’t click on threads that look bad to me.

I’m convinced English food is why England developed into such a far-flung worldwide empire. Some Englishman looked at that sorry slab of boiled mutton on his plate, said “Bugger this, I’m going out for Chinese carry-out or a nice curry,” and the next thing you know he’d sailed to the other side of the world and conquered India and Hong Kong.

Two words prove what you say: "Scotch" and "Eggs". :) I worked in Birmingham for a while and absolutely adore English food.
But I grew up in Georgia and I *never* heard of chicken and waffles until I moved to the mountain west, where everybody and their brother tells me it's a "traditional Southern food"!

Chicken Fried Steak is totally German.
Pork rinds are as much Mexican (chicarones) as American.

That’s not American Cheese. That’s processed cheese food,
Often sold under a name like “American Slices.” It’s disgusting. As to real American cheese, I don’t think anything is better as a melting cheese for burgers or grilled cheese

Bleh. There are way better things! How about key lime pie, buffalo wings, BLTs, gumbo, clam chowder, and many others? Some of the foods listed here I don’t even find edible. :D

My family visited England when my sister got married (both USAF) and the food was ...... predictable.
The menu at every restaurant had fish and chips, some sort of beef, gammon (ham), “American style hamburgers” (dried out hockey pucks), peas, and fried mushrooms.
The Chinese restaurants were AWESOME!!!!!! Best Chinese I ever ate.

I like Circus Peanuts, but never eat them. Terrible for you.
Biscuits and gravy here in the south looks nasty, with the white slime. (What even IS that?) Growing up, we ate a lot of bread and gravy, but the gravy was regular beef gravy.
I love cornbread, but without sweetener, which makes it cake.
Some of those things I had not heard of.

Sloppy Joe’s are uniquely American? Not that the supremacy of American cuisine was ever in doubt, but that should clinch it for the slow learners.

“don’t even ask about a “full English breakfast”
Been there done that, the baked beans are out of place but the grilled tomato is something I enjoyed. Eggs and Bangers, nothing unusual. The limp non crispy Bacon is meh. Overall I have had worst.

Probably one of the odd ball things they serve up at County / State Fairs.
