Freepers frequently blame conditions over behavior about weight
If CHF is ruled out I’d be at a loss
It usually takes a while to add that much weight
I’m very familiar how to lose weight
Eat les
I’ve six five
Gone from 272 to 215 in five months right now
Fast 36 hours straight weekly
Eat less
I’m 66 next week and this is my third adjustment in my life
32-34 britches down from 40
It’s just discipline
There are meds to help now I read about too
More than 2 lbs per week loss will generate major gallbladder issues.
The discipline often can drop big numbers when some source of fear appears.
There will be rebound, though. So find good habits and keep them.
In high school I was at the home of a very overweight classmate. I was hanging out with her and another friend. She left the room for a moment and we noticed some candy bars on the floor by her bed. We took a closer look and underneath the bed was stockpiled with candy.
Like I said it’s my third time in my life past 26 years
I stayed around 190-210 till 40
Had graves at 29 then hypo
Taken synthroid ever since 300 mcg a day
Some things help suppress appetite
When I fast I take fair mount of caffeine too via diet Milo’s tea
The OP implies that it is sudden weight gain and not related to lifestyle.
So, working with that assumption, the two most likely culprits is their gut bacteria and thyroid.
Nothing besides caloric intake can explain 250-300 pounds weight increase
I’ve seen fluid retention do 70 and lasix zapped it in days in the hospital
Freepers are super prone as I stated to blame anything but eating for obesity I’ve seen
Not me
I get fat cause I like food
Going back to the post it looks like they blame water retention
Which is possible I guess but boy that’s a whole lot
Someone should be able to figure why
If it’s a sudden weight gain, I discount the calories, because it’s sudden. If you are putting on 2lbs/week consistently and then, out of nowhere, your weight goes up by 100lbs, it’s probably not due to diet.
Of course, a proper maintenance diet will be part of it. However, if there are medical causes behind it, controlling the calories will not do the trick.
If one of us gains 100 lb, either in a week or a year, it comes from something..
Unless one can receive nourishment from suppositories, the energy/mass comes down the gullet.
The existing body cannot get heavier (retaining water not withstanding) without additional mass down the throat.
“So, working with that assumption, the two most likely culprits is their gut bacteria and thyroid.”
Interesting that you can give a diagnosis without seeing him when multiple doctors who have seen and tested him disagree with you.
If the weight gain occurred rapidly edema is the prime suspect. That can result from kidney disease and/or heart failure. Edema is an indicator of something serious and it needs to be dealt with asap.
I never gave the cause of the thyroid or gut bacteria, but that is what came up in my internet searching of the topic.
“If the weight gain occurred rapidly edema is the prime suspect.”
Multiple doctors disagree.
Chronic pericarditis , which blocked 60% of the blood going to my liver , so technically it was Cardiac serosis of the liver ,, Im lucky to be alive because the insurance denied every test my GI wanted to run over a year since he couldn’t find anything wrong with the liver . I always thought those death panel warnings were some sort of conspiracy till it happened to me .
And even produce is irradiated by law, so that affects nutrients in them too, negatively.
Not being snarky at all, can they get on Ozempic for weight loss? It shrinks your stomach down to 1/3 it’s size, so you can’t scarf half a pizza, your gut will not let you. Unless you want it coming right back up on you. I could go 3 or 4 days without eating if I didn’t have reminders. I’ve lost 30 lbs this year. That’s Yuge for me!
Will pass it on. (No pun intended.)
