Any list of so-called conservative movies is woefully incomplete without Ghostbusters (1984).

A film about working hard and taking risks in a capitalist system, the risk pays off and the owners get rich, only to get confronted by bureaucrats of the EPA.

It's the perfect conservative film.

I think I'd throw Heartbreak Ridge into that mix.

Here are a few more suggestions.

Big Jim McClain (1952)—John Wayne plays an investigator for the House Committee on Un-American Activities who is chasing Red spies through Hawaii. How much more politically incorrect can you get?

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)—Objects from outer space resembling artichokes transform people into beings devoid of human emotion—sort of like the New Soviet Man. The man trying to stop them is played by Kevin McCarthy, who has the same last name as someone who was trying to stop a similar real-life menace at the time.

Star Wars I (1977)—A teenager, a princess, a space pirate and two robots band together to fight an Evil Empire threatening their galaxy that resembled a similar Evil Empire threatening Planet Earth at the time.

The Alamo (1960)—A band of Texans led by John Wayne rise up against a military dictatorship as they seek to establish a republic.

Patton (1970)—An American general must cope with liberal backstabbers as he fights the Nazis.

Gone with the Wind (1939)—a paean to the Old South and its unique civilization.

Whether a true story or not, I thought The Way Back (2010 Ed Harris) was good.

I was going to say “Gone With the Wind”. Who were the hero’s in that movie? The slaves. Mammy is my number one hero of all time. I wish today’s young people would make a point to watch it.

What about “The Passion Of The Christ” or “Schindler’s List”?

I take issue in that Spielberg omitted from his film the historical fact that Oskar Schindler armed his Jewish workers with rifles towards the end of the war in the event they needed to defend themselves.

Gun control efforts were looming in congress at the time and Spielberg, a good Democrat, didn't want to show an armed populace in a positive light.

The Iron Lady...

It should have been titled The Iron Dememted Lady. It concentrated too much on Thatcher's later years and not enough on her rise and her terms as PM.

We Were Soldiers (2002)...

Great flick. Hal Moore was one heckuva soldier.
