ALERTl đ Diphenhydramine is the main ingredient in Benedryl the most common cold and allergy medicine. Either the FDA wants to eliminate these OTC PRODUCTS TO FORCE HIGHER PRICED ONES OR COVID TREATMENT ON THE PUBLIC.
The company will continue to sell other âoral cough and cold productsâ in order to âmeet consumer needs,â the statement continued.
âWe are aware of the FDA Advisory Committeeâs position on oral phenylephrine (PE) and will follow direction from the FDA to ensure products we sell comply with all laws and regulations,â the statement from CVS said.
CNN reached out to other retail pharmacies to see if they are planning to take similar action. In a statement Friday, a Walgreens spokesperson told CNN, âWalgreens follows FDA regulations. We are closely monitoring the situation and actively partnering with the Walgreens Office of Clinical Integrity and suppliers on appropriate next steps.â
While the FDA has found that the ingredient is safe to use, many doctors have questioned phenylephrineâs effectiveness for years. These products generated nearly $1.8 billion in sales last year alone, according to data from the FDA that was presented to the Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee during the committeeâs two-day meeting in September.
Last month, the advisory committee voted no on the specific question: âDo the current scientific data that were presented support that the monograph dosage of orally administered phenylephrine is effective as a nasal decongestant.â
The FDA told the committee it would take its advice into consideration, although it did not give a timeline. The agency has not issued a final decision regarding phenylephrine and has not asked manufacturers or retail pharmacies to remove products containing the ingredient from store shelves.
The group encouraged the FDA, before it made any regulatory changes, to âbe mindful of the totality of the evidence supporting this long-standing OTC ingredient, as well as the significantly negative unintended consequences associated with any potential change in oral PEâs regulatory status.â
A CHPA spokesperson, Logan Ramsey Tucker, told CNN in a statement Thursday, âUntil FDA makes a determination on the committeeâs recommendation, oral PE remains a Category 1 OTC ingredient, which is generally recognized as safe and effective (GRASE).â
Iâd say his family is at high risk for future effects
Hopefully that whole clan will exit stage left really soon.
Apparently, he is a singer. At this point, I donât think a well known performer, even one of the few I admire, could influence me to risk this injection.
And colds and seasonal allergies.
The Coof is a miracle cure.
If you want to know what really works check out the newly inflated costs of the vitamin D3.

This one isn’t priced high....right amount of each ... D3/K2....
I went to Walgreens and got a BOGO deal for $15.
Counted myself lucky as there was not much left on the shelves.
But thank you.
Iâve bought stuff from them for many years.
VitaLife was another online company I liked.
I think thatâs their name.
Iâve tried to buy at local brick and mortar stores as much as I can.
