I favor a radical redesign:

Ten cents
Twenty-five cents
Fifty Cents
One Dollar
Two Dollars
Five Dollars

probably have to keep the nickel, or there would be issues getting exact change. If they did .10, .20, .50, 1, 2, 5, I'd be ok with it. Given what inflation has done to us, it would probably make sense to just stick with .25, .50, 1, 2, 5. drop everything lower than a quarter, since you really can't buy squat with less than that.

That’s the real reason dollar coins never caught on. People would have used them no problem if dollar bills had been take. Out of circulation at the same time.

I had some 1943 steel pennies.

But my brother got into my change bottle and spent it on penny bubble gum.

I later raised some knots on his head.

The problem with the Sacajawea coin was it’s poor quality. After about a year in circulation, the gold had worn off revealing the base material.
