I purposely leave the seat up when I exit a unisex restroom.

It’s a courtesy for the next guy and a show of respect for the next woman that I made an effort not to pee on the seat.

A single unisex bathroom is one thing but I’m guessing there were three bathrooms here. One each for normal male/female and the third for freaks and labeled as such that was probably a family restroom at one time.

Agreed. If it’s a single restroom with a door and a lock, it’s not that big of a deal, unless a woman gets in there and primps. As for toilet seats, if they’re down, they stay down. I try to avoid touching public toilet seats.

That's what I was thinking. I used the restroom yesterday at the store I filled up my truck. The sign on the door had both a man and a woman image. But it was single use only with a lock on the door.

The proper etiquette for this is, based on a practical, engineer perspective:

If the toilet has a seat, leave it up. This prevents asshole men from peeing on the seat when they don't bother lifting it up. Also, men have to put it down anyway when leaving their number twos, so it's not like women do all the work.

BUT, if the seat also has a cover, you leave both down. Better option, as everyone has to lift something to do their business, so the ladies don't feel put out. Also somewhat more sanitary as the cover prevents some of the splash 'n' spray from when you flush.

Best option: just pee in the floor-length urinal. It's the manliest choice and much better/cleaner than the stupid varied-height ones the kiddos can't even reach half the time (but they try!).

I really don't understand why some guys get so incredibly lazy and don't lift the seat when gotta pee and find it already in the down position. Where do they think their cheeks go when they gotta drop the kids at the pool?
