When I was reading this, my thought was that this dog sounds like a terrier. I just recently lost my precious little Jack Russell Terrier. She got quite old & had the problems that got with it. The point is that she was always aggressive to other animals back when I took her for walks. I always restrained her & later she was pretty much restricted to indoors. I loved & miss that little dog, but she did have certain undesirable traits. A person getting a dog for the first time needs to be aware of some of this.
I live in Oqakwood GA. We put her down at 4:30pm.
Laz,
It is too late for me to do anything.
If I had known about the dog a couple of days ago I would have driven up there to pick her up.
It’s sad to deliberately kill like this !
I had a half Llaso Apso that liked to start fights behind fences. Although, if the dog or cat in question got behind the fence to take up her challenge, she’d run away as fast as she could.
It was tempting, sometimes, to want to throw her over the fence so she can meet the dog that she was trying to challenge.
What a trying experience, Laz. You had to make a hard call. Hope you get over it soon, with all its lessons onboard. Blessings...
I’m sure you mean well, but dogs and their owners’ living situations must both be considered, and the two aren’t always compatible. Sounds like you had the right situation for your pitsky, but Laz did not for his out-of-control dog. No use piling on.
Wasn’t fun.
I did know deep down. The deed is done. I took a day off work and gave her the best day of her life. Lots of daddy love, lots of car rides, even Ribeye steak and Wendy's french fries.
Then I had her put down.
lots of tears have been shed, even some more now.
Hey Laz, came to check on you. I know it wasn’t easy and you truly have my sincerest sympathies. I’ve been there.
There are far too many pit-mixes (and others) sitting in shelters being sad, confused, and alone because they have behavior problems that no one can fix and are a danger to any potential owner.
Please be easy in this decision, that you were brave enough to do the right thing and not let her suffer the same fate.
Hugs.
This was difficult and I am occasionally in tears. I did ONE thing right though, I took the day off work and gave her the best day she ever had. Lots of daddy-love, THREE car rides (her favorite), walkies, and ribeye steak and Wendy’s french fries (again her favorite).
She had a very good last day.
Still hurts though.
