That’s mild compared to the type of soccer hooliganism we get in Europe every now and then (though Europe has cracked down on hooliganism after what happened at the former Heysel Stadium in 1985).

Seems like people are missing the point here. It’s like thinking that Putin invaded Ukraine because of homosexuality.
The Mexicans were acting like jerks, and we beat them at their national sport (I suppose they might be able to beat us at baseball sometime, though).
