No one is telling ChatGPT what to write for you. No one is programming it to write a program for you because they cannot anticipate what you are going to ask.
BTW, GPT-4 can pass the bar and many other exams (it doesn't know the questions in advance). See this: OpenAI just announced GPT-4, an updated chatbot that can pass everything from a bar exam to AP Biology. Here's a list of difficult exams both AI versions have passed.
Don’t worry ….. there will be no AI taught to behave as a moslem
Wasn’t lying the reason the HAL2000 went homicidal?
and Yes, I know that was fantasy.
Programmed by fellas with compassion and vision.
“No one is telling ChatGPT what to write for you.”
That says a lot. You could tell it to write a program to do your taxes but the specific steps to do it would come from inside your head.
I’m a programmer and would like to see some of the source code within AI, or a flowchart, or like to ask an AI programmer about what the software is doing.
Maybe there aren’t AI programmers, just programmers doing what the AI hypesters tell them to do.
This is how it developed what passes for language. Then using this language (and continually updating it), it devours more content and keeps refining its language.
And, though it has not been mentioned, I think we can presume that it has been scrubbing websites. I have asked questions that would require CHATGPT to have read some pretty obscure sites (questions, for example, about what was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls).
‘They’re Training the AI to Lie’
Ever tried to call a company and want to speak to a human please call again thank you good bye.
AI ain’t new Moe just refined.
“it has been scrubbing websites”
I agree with your post but what do you mean by ‘scrubbing’?
I must have been thinking of Hillary.
I'm multi-tasking on my taxes right now. Hope I haven't made any errors there.;-)
“Hope I haven’t made any errors there”
Did mine a few weeks ago. Used TaxAct. Punched in the numbers, compared results with last year (Taxact remembers previous years), did no other checking, shipped off the returns. If IRS or my state finds a problem they can tell me.
One year I forgot some income. IRS send a very polite letter, “we propose the following change to your return”, and that was that.
From what I understand, it is not an AI in the standard sense. It isn’t examining the actual meanings of words, it is just looking at statistical correlations between the words a user types in and the words on its vast database of Reddit posts, Wikipedia articles, New York times articles, etc.
You could ask it to explain Einstein’s theory of relativity using modern knowledge, but if you gave it the information available to Einstein in his time only it could not “figure it out” on its own.
