Per Wiki-hahahaha-pedia:

This is the list of Schedule I drugs as defined by the United States Controlled Substances Act.[1] The following findings are required for drugs to be placed in this schedule:[2]

1]) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
2) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
3)There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

None of these three statements are true of Fentanyl. Listing Fentanyl or its relatives as Schedule 1 would be a gross error ... The ‘rats are right, though probably for the wrong reasons.

The Dems apparently don’t want their income to fall from kickbacks.

Rge real problem is supply. The market is being flooded with it

OK, there are two real problems - demand, and the existence of a market.

Fentanyl should not be a schedule I. It is an invaluable part of a lot of general anesthetic, important in analgesic based sedation for critically ill patients and a good drug for cancer patients at end of life. Here we have the government making a problem and then solving it in the worst possible way.

Their unnecessary restriction of pain meds for the suffering will lead to increased street use. Horrible idea. Period.

The next one to keep an eye out for is xylazine or “tranq”. That’s starting to show up in larger amounts.

"If it was a schedule 1 it could not be prescribed to anyone."

Bingo! When administered properly it can be a miracle drug. For example, it can almost instantly relieve a soldier on the battlefield of pain from wounds.

Which doesn't mean that laws can't be crafted, and strongly enforced, to prevent abuse.
