That works just fine
I actually tolerate a traditional fast better than regulating the fasting mimicking
diet
Both work and I think the key is to go through as many fasting-regeneration cycles as is practical or what your doc recommends - especially if you are doing it as an adjunct to chemo or some other treatment

Water and electrolytes. Sometimes zero cal vitamin water or Gatorade because they have a good balance of electrolytes. This is not something you want to do cold turkey. I started out with 3 day fasts and acclimated to 5-7 or more day over an 18 month period. Had to step back and break the fast for a day several times due to electrolyte imbalance or other. That is why Dr Longo’s fasting mimicking program is such a plus. Longo’s program can be (and has been) done by pretty much anyone even if they are in poor health or are weakened by chemo or some other issue. If you are starting out with a goal to address a specific health issue it's probably wise to have a physicians supervision . Dr Longo is building a network and support structure to accomplish this.

No, just do it the old fashion way - stop eating and only. drink water or coffee "In addition, after 12 to 14 hours of fasting, the body switches from using glucose in the blood to ketones, which can improve heart function."
It's ridiculously easy to do. I just skip breakfast a couple days a week. Eat a light meal of spinach, and wild rice mushrooms onions fennel and beans at 5pm and don't eat lunch until 1 or 2pm the next day.
