It’s hard enough being president without aiming a machine gun on full auto at your own feet, doing a mag dump and repeating this over and over. But that’s what Trump did, day in and day out with his unguarded public statements, against the advice of his lawyers and advisers.
Every word that came out of Reagan’s mouth was carefully crafted and wargamed. The phrase “sound bite” was first used to describe his public utterances. Nothing was left to chance. One of the few times he spoke off the cuff - and this was just a sound check - his poll numbers crashed.
