“Problem is, it took over 70 years for the Soviets to do something about their government, replacing it with a kleptocracy.“

…and the Soviets didn’t have effective mind control trough social media like we do.

Maybe. But there is one big difference here. An elephant in the room. The author approached the topic but failed to address it.

AI.

Imagine the capability of an AI. An AI could have information on all recorded human intelligence on human conflict and human psychology. For example, an AI might be able to access, analyze, then apply all known data on combat actions and psychology in all documented human history to a conflict. A meat General relies on his experience of 40 years (10 of it relevant) and the shit he read, which is maybe 20 books. He forgot 10 of them. Who will probably win this engagement? The AI comes up with five strategies ranked by probability of success in three seconds. A meat General has to think on a strategy for a while.

I suspect this is what they have been using against us. The success of “they” has been remarkable. No government could have pulled this off. I noticed several things in 2020 straight away.

1. They were entirely unconcerned about elections.
2. They moved out, totally unconcerned about the insanity of their policies.
3. They appeared to be picking a fight with half the country at every possible opportunity. (I think they already have their game-plan worked out).
4. The western world was coordinating in lock-step.

These things are very strange. What’s even more strange is that here in 2023, it appears they have been wildly successful, and they still aren’t worried about anything.

Something is giving them confidence. Something is giving them their moves. And it appears to be batting 1000.

Times they are a changing. I hope wiser heads prevail and the power brokers don’t get us into a World War. The ship of state seems to be heading that way—They do not think we can lose. They keep re-playing WW II and it will be nothing like that. We have, in our arrogance, founded an American Fantasy that we can not lose—but we can. Like the Japanese who thought they had never lost a war were faced with a national disgrace in 1945. Has America ever lost a war? Yes, look at the war of 1812—the Brits burned our capital. This time we have much more to lose. We have made some powerful enemies in the world and they are ganging up on us—the people we thought we could trust have gotten weaker or become angry at us (Think Germany—they were part of NATO because of the Soviet Threat—that threat is gone and the pipeline has angered many Germans.) No, these are intereresting times.

I thought about AI as I read the article, too. But to the extent AI may be what our present elites are relying on, when the elites fall out amongst themselves, which side does AI favor? And when does AI decide all the elites are unworthy?

Besides, most of the 4 points you list might also be due to extreme arrogance backed up by coincidence and lucky-for-now chance. Ignorance can succeed for a while. When things need fixing or new challenges arrive, ignorance generally fails.

Until proven otherwise, I prefer to consider AI simply a more dangerous Tower of Babel, brought about by human hubris and arrogance.

I may not be using the term AI properly.

I watched Ben Shapiro talk to this thing (the damn thing had a liberal bent to it, if you can believe that) and I also watched an interview with Jordan Peterson and it is basically a question answerer. It wasn’t thinking or sentient. It was the type of tool that would work for whoever owned it. It appeared to be pretty good at analysis.

I too have thought what has been going on these last several years could be luck or coincidence. At times I have thought they were terrified and were going overboard, as tyrants tend to do before the end.

But years on and they are still winning... bigly. They get caught, and just double down. We can see another ‘rona scare being built before our eyes.

So I’m beginning to smell a rat here. The question is, how could a group of retards accomplish something no one else has ever been able to do? Navigate the winning sequence in an incomprehensibly complex system of systems and win (or advance) every time?

And this new AI chat. That I can go play with myself. I am to believe that this is brand new and governments have not been developing this secretly for decades? They tell me its a research tool for now.

I suspect the research being done is on us. Its one thing to feed this thing a dissertation on transcendentalism. It is quite another to allow it to observe and record the real-time thinking and logic process of everyday people. To allow it to observe and document how normal humans interface with AI.

I don’t want to downplay your point about AI because I think it is a real danger. But I don’t think the success of an evil regime made up of low intelligence schemers is necessarily due to AI.

The group around Hitler and Hitler himself fit that same pattern, and look what they did to the world. The top levels of the Soviet tyranny were notorious for being evil but dumb. Intelligence was not their strong suit, artificial or otherwise, but they ruled half the world and put more of it in fear.

Both groups had existing government structures to step into and willing or acquiescent populations top rule. Looks a lot like the current US regime, AI or no AI.

Well.... maybe I am leaning a little too far forward on this one. But I’m keeping an eye out!
