The Associated Press has announced that the article “the” should be avoided in many circumstances because it is “dehumanizing.” It warns writers to avoid saying offensive things like “the French”. It does not seem that we can even just add an x like Latinx. It is not a gender thing so “thx” will not suffice. It is now an article of faith to stop using the article “the” in referencing groups. It is reminiscent of Winston Churchill who was chastised for ending a sentence with a preposition. He responded by showing the artificiality of avoiding an ending preposition: “This is the type of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put.”
The AP declared that:
“We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing ‘the’ labels such as the poor, the mentally ill, the French, the disabled, the college-educated. Instead, use wording such as people with mental illnesses. And use these descriptions only when clearly relevant.”
Even the French Embassy responded with “Le” scorn.
Even the Demonrats are complaining.......

During a portion of an interview with CBS News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent and “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan set to air on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” and aired on Thursday’s “Red and Blue,” Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said that after being promised a briefing on the classified documents held by President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the Biden administration went back on its offer and now they have no idea when they’ll find out what was in the documents and this “cannot stand.”
Host Margaret Brennan asked, “I know the two of you were briefed by the Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines. Do you have any timeline in terms of when you will get visibility into the documents of classified material that both President Biden and President Trump had in their residences?”
Warner responded, “Margaret, unfortunately, no. And this committee has had a long, bipartisan history of doing its job, and our job here is intelligence oversight. The Justice Department has had the Trump documents about six months, the Biden documents about three months. Our job’s not to figure if somebody mishandled those, our job is to make sure there’s not an intelligence compromise. And while the Director of National Intelligence had been willing to brief us earlier, now that you’ve got the special counsel, the notion that we’re going to be left in limbo and we can’t do our job, that just cannot stand.”

The first 432 dogs were removed from Envigo RMS LLC’s facility in Cumberland, Virginia, which bred dogs to be sold to labs for animal experimentation
The Humane Society, in partnership with several shelter and rescue organizations, removed more than four hundred beagles from Envigo RMS LLC’s facility in Virginia on Thursday.
The dogs, which were bred in order to be used by laboratories for experimentation, are now out for adoption, but there are still thousands more beagles to account for.
The dogs are in for a lot of “care and TLC,” the Humane Society of the United States said.
“Despite the long day, the puppies perked up and immediately started bounding around their kennels and playing as soon as they settled in,” said Jessica Johnson, senior director of the Animal Rescue Team for the Humane Society of the United States in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“For these resilient puppies, hopefully their ear tattoos are the only reminders of their past.”

30 people are facing charges stemming from a three-day human trafficking operation across Lubbock.
Operation Blue Rain, which was conducted by The Lubbock Police Department’s Special Operations Division, The Texas Department of Public Safety, The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security and Lubbock Fire Rescue, occurred on January 19, 20, and 21st.
OMG….mixed feelings, about this….
While I rejoice that these poor, innocent animals have been freed from that monster’s experiments….I’m concerned about whether they should be mixed in with the general pet population, after GOK they’ve been injected with.
This is just horrifying, on several levels.
