Wrong, to allow the oil and transmission fluid to get warm and be able to circulate as it should is a logical. I say this having lived in upper Maine for years, had many a car or truck over the years and always ALWAYS warmed them up rather than just waiting for the idle to drop as these clowns say/ suggest. Pollution ? bull __t.
My garage wanted to hook up something for me to plug it in, but I live in apartment where I have a carport, no plug outside.
“Yeah, I guess we have to remember it was these climate change fanatics that led to the engines that turn off at stop lights now and start up again when you let off the brake. Our new BMW X3M40i doesn’t even allow us to disable that annoying thing...”
I needed to rent a car last month while mine was in the shop and Enterprise provided a 320i. I thought it died at the first stop light, then realized it had that extremely annoying feature - and it was even more annoying when I realized I couldn’t disable it. That alone would be a deal-breaker regarding BMW’s if I was in the market for a car.
The stop-start doesn’t turn off in Sport Mode?
There seem to be techs that can re-code the controls permanently.
Have you checked BMW owners forums?
“Unless you live on the on-ramp to I-95, there’s no benefit to warming up your engine.”
No is there any harm, which was the (alleged) point of the article.

Well, as I recall, there is a work around and it involves the sport mode. I guess I’m lazy. With the Telluride, you just pressed a button in any mode and it disabled the engine turn off. I think you are correct...there is a work around using sport mode. Manual work around I think. Thanks.
Bummer
Electric radiant heating through your home electric panel is very expensive.
5 bucks a day for a 1500 watt heater and 13 cents/kWh
That 5 bucks would get me about 50 miles
Dont care a out the ambient temperature; my Ford Escape starts putting out war.er temperature in a mile. Did not say it was blowing hot; just warmerthan the air temperature in the vehicle cabin.
