One good link deserves another see creationscience.com for free online book or video version of hydroplate theory:
Guess you did not look too hard. I’m not your personal search engine.
I am quibbling about the “exactly” in the article. If one wishes his article to have some scientific credibility, then some attention must be given to accurately representing the measurements. Anyone who states something is “exactly 300 cubits” isn’t being accurate. How would a critical reader categorize the rest of the work?
IIRC the measurements are the ones given in Genesis. They’re in there for a reason.
There isn’t any way to know what a cubit was unless the person that did the measurements left behind some artifact that we can measure now. Sure, we can all read the numeric specifications in the Bible. Unless there is some way to have an equivalent in our measure, we cannot look at anything and say, “Look! That is exactly 300 cubits long”. As it now stands, I could declare the Empire State Building to be exactly 300 cubits tall while you could declare the length of a Viking longboat to be exactly 300 cubits long.
The cubit is still used in the garment industry. Because the distance between the elbow and the middle finger varies with each person, cubits are used to design some garments so they will fit an individual.
You can't. A cubit is a rough estimate. Nobody should be able to say "exactly" and "cubit" in a single sentence while keeping a straight face.
The great kilt, a garment made from eight yards of woolen fabric, was once worn in the mountains of Scotland and can be seen today at Renaissance festivals. Each pleat of the kilt is one cubit long—and it varies with each individual.
Tell me you understand why I maintain that you can’t look at something and declare, “That is exactly 300 cubits long”.
That hasn’t stopped the proliferation of pseudoarchaeology that upholds the Bible as literal truth. ..In his younger years, says Cline, he spent significant time and energy attempting to rebut the purported biblical evidence that enchants the public year after year.
“Royal Society” being gatekeepers”
That is exactly what “The Dig” is about. If you have Netflix, it is well worth watching.
Whatever the cubit length was it was 300 of them.
Well, it does. Paul also notes Adam was the first man created.
It could have just as easily been 423 of some other unit, and not the Arc at all.
Pretty good description of how the Ark was to be constructed.
You can quibble all you want but you're arguing with the text. An argument that is against you.
With the tools of the day. Modern man vastly underestimates the ability of the ancient peoples to get things done without power.....unless you subscribe to the Ancient Aliens involvement theory.
——>The ancient cubit has been identified as measuring 0.5235 metres (20.6 inches)
Well now, that wasn’t Noah’s cubit, was it?
Evidently, yes. The measurements of the ark are exactly 157 meters. (0.5235 x 300 = 157.05 meters).
