“Good Girls Don’t (But I Do)” was a better song IMHO.

Interesting to see this discussion. Is there anything more subjective than music people prefer?

“Running down the length of my thigh” and “I like the touch of the younger kind” was pretty edgy for the time.

Listen to Deep Purples’ Hush, 1969 I think. Sounds power pop to me. So far no luck coming up with one older than than that but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone does.

Since Deep Purple is associated with heavier stuff, It is harder to categorize it that way, just as we don’t count McCartney’s music hall and country pieces.

In 1959,
this song was so requested that a station in Birmingham played it continuously for 24 hours.
I was 16 years old.

“Stairway to Heaven was overplayed a bit, too”
That one and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird......DJs played those when they had to take a dump because they were so long.......it’s funny but it’s absolutely true!

“Can’t Put A Price On Love” was epic and my 1980-81 guitar player boyfriend dedicated “Baby Talks Dirty” to me every gig.
Good times.
Wish I had a time machine.
