An ultimatum like this is not unprecedented. Former Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to Chic-Fil-A, telling the company not to open in the city because of their views on same-sex marriage. This kind of out of control government is Un-American.

Could the theft, violence and high rent be a consideration?
Government cares little about that.

Let the local government, as well as the people that voted for this enjoy the fruits of their vote.

One response would be for Walgreens to tell Boston that they will close the rest of their locations if the Council proceeds with their plans. Brass knuckle response is needed in such negotiations.

If Walgreens had the spherical objects, it would announce that it has no intentions of opening any new stores in Boston, and will be considering further closures there as necessary if the government continues interfering with its legitimate business activities.

Interesting.
With Chick Fil A, they prohibited them from doing business in Boston.
With Walgreens, they are attempting to force them to do business in Boston.
What if Walgreens pulled out of Boston altogether? How can they compel a business to do business, in a certain locale?

And it’s conservatives who are “fascists”?

Walgreens should just release a statement that no more Walgreens stores will open in Boston until Boston is in the top 15% of Safest Cities in the US, and Walgreens will continue to close stores on the basis of Safety as necessary.

The city should just open their own stores. I mean if it is because of racism and all. Then the “people” can enjoy the profits.
To: DFG
Have Rite-Aid open the new stores, then Walgreens buys the Rite-Aid stores. Walgreens has a habit of buying Rite-Aid stores as they are not allowed a buy out.
Alternatively, wait for CVS to apply for a license in a location that was near one denied Walgreens, then charge anti-trust.

The council plans to use their legislative powers to stop Walgreens from opening any future stores in the city unless they halt the closures. An ultimatum like this is not unprecedented. Former Mayor Thomas Menino sent a letter to Chic-Fil-A, telling the company not to open in the city because of their views on same-sex marriage. This is called fascism.

Boston has numerous desirable, profitable locations. CVS would swoop in and take the spots. Walgreens does not want to give up the upscale areas in a city like Boston. If they move out of Boston, they might endanger some of their relationships with medical insurance companies with a strong presence in Boston.

Interesting what City Councilor Brian Worrell lists as life’s three priorities: “Their food, their medication, their COVID vaccines.”

If I were Walgreens, the announcement I would make is for additional store closures in the Boston area.

They might succeed in forcing them to stay open, but good luck getting a pharmacist to work in a war zone like that.
