Most people don’t realize that a security system is only useful if - like any tool, weapons included - it is used effectively. Otherwise, it’s just a hammer (no pun intended /s/s) hanging on the wall.

Sadly, for most a security system is merely a warm blanket of emotional support or, in other cases, just another brick in the wall of a self-imposed prison.

For the rest of us, it serves as silent witness to the truth of what actually happened, something that law enforcement has begun to use in its investigations to justify its reactionary existence in emotional support of those who still ‘feel’ that ‘justice’ serves as any deterrent to crime whatsoever in the liberal urban landscape.

The only deterrence in this incident (and 1/6):

“Attack us and you will get the hammer.”

It has been pointed out that it is quite cool at 2 a.m. in San Francisco (especially this time of the year) so another question is whether or not David DePape broke in to the house in his underwear. He and Paul were apparently involved in a physical altercation (that too) in their underwear.
If he didn't, then where were his clothes? The recent "break-in" by a man who allegedly assaulted Paul Pelosi with both of them in their underwear just can NOT be a "break-in".

Sounds more like the description of an "encounter" gone wrong, than that of a break in.

Since the glass in the patio door was broken from inside to outside, my guess is that after the altercation, the door was locked in such a way that would have required a code to exit. So the hammer guy smashed a window to break out. But the police were already steps away.
