I thought it would be nice to remember this after all the 'attack' articles being posted today.
QE was an outstanding leader for her people and a compassionate and dignified friend to all others.

WEll, it is the same song only played faster than the Brits, so there’s that.

I remember this very, very well. People were flying small American flags and lots of tears.

Ironically, the Star Spangled Banner anthem commemorates an attack on the United States by another hostile power 187 years before 9-11. That power was Great Britain. No doubt Queen Elizabeth II knew the irony of playing the American national anthem at Buckingham Palace.

The last monarch that bucked Parliament got his head chopped off.

She was an empress, guarding the growth of other kings and nations, and as such she actually did more of the mere job of Queen she was paid for.

Charles I was totally different circumstances. He dissolved Parliament several times and tried to put parliamentary leaders in jail, because he wanted money to fight a war, which they wouldn't give him.
Its totally different now. You can't dissolve parliament and the King does not/cannot demand taxes of any type.

Did your folks ever teach you that if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut? Or this one, which seems to apply to you: better to keep your mouth shut and thought of as a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

You’re thinking of America/My Country ‘Ris of Thee, which has the same tune as God save the Queen. The Star Spangled Banner is a completely different song.

Not much she could have done. The left worked its magic on that great nation as it is working on hours. We can only hope that we take it to the left and make them suffer.
Suffer greatly.
Extremely greatly.
Weeping and knashing of teeth. And bones.
And hear the lamentations of their he/she/it/whatevers.

And so they fought a bloody Civil War, beheaded the King, then when Cromwell died, and his son didn't want to take his place, they brought Charles II, son of Charles I, back from exile, but when he died without a legitimate heir, they decided to give his brother James Stuart a shot at the throne, but then they deposed him, and forced him to flee the country because he was a Catholic, and they next went to Holland to beg William of Orange and his wife Mary, who was James Stuart's daughter to take the throne.
If you've read anything on Charles I, there was no way he was going to roll over for the January 6th committee that tried him, and condemned him to death. He firmly believed, as had British monarchs that had gone before him, that they had a divine right to rule, given to them by God. He died believing that.

Watched a few videos on Charles I on YouTube after the Queen passed. Because of Prince Charles.
