The current battlines are States -v- out of control fedgov.
A strong conservative Governor can fight the fedgov and if States continue to elect them the fedgov can be neutered in those states. Furthere, the VP slot is of no real power and the good they can do at the State level far eceeeds any benefit that they can do at the VP figurehead slot andour Florida Governor is a great example.
The other day someone on TS (was it someone from here?) said they had a wild thought, imagining Tucker Carlson as Trump’s VP. That would certainly have the Dems’ heads exploding, and I like that kind of “out of the box” thinking, myself. (If not VP, Tucker would make an amazing press secretary!)
