Scientists will pronounce you a dangerous criminal if you suggest that, against the backdrop of the current squalor of their profession, these journalists belie utterly any notion that these substances are benign.
Mushrooms are not addictive for most people because they simply stop working if someone attempts to abuse them. For the full effect, most people can only use them moderately approx once a month.
If using too heavily even once, the tolerance goes up immediately and lasts for months. If someone attempts to use more to compensate, they’ll just feel sick in their stomach and throw up. Most people have no opportunity for mushroom addiction due to this inherent “safety mechanism”.
Of course people can be very different and there are a few with low tolerance build up that might get addicted. As well as a few that don’t react at all to any dose.
Never encountered anyone addicted to mushrooms but personally know many people successfully treating long term addiction, PTSD and various other mental illness almost immediately and without a single side effect. There are numerous studies showing such positive treatments.
Many poor people suffered needlesly for decades then turned their life around in a matter of months.
The best thing to improve their performance would be lead injections at high velocity.
