Just to put some sweet notes back in the brain pan after the Springsteen pollution: Something obscure I hope you enjoy.

To be fair to the Boss - this Keef interview is from 1988. Keith Richards changed his mind and considers Bruce a genius after he heard “Outlaw Pete” in 2009.

Keith Richards might be unfiltered and he’s lived a lifestyle that no one should live but I often find myself saying in response to his outbursts “He’s right, you know.” On Springsteen, he’s right, you know.

Agree with Richards about Bruce, and always have. I’d add that Springsteen’s songs tend to be way too negative, and either demean blue collar America as poor, miserable losers, or are outright anti-America. Every time I hear Manfred Mann’s cover of Blinded by the Light, I get a little feeling of schadenfreude, knowing Bruce must hate that they actually made the song a hit. It was Manfred Mann’s version that gave Bruce his only Number 1 single, and it was as the songwriter.

Nothing says pretentious like men in their late 70s prancing about onstage.

Rename the band The Strolling Bones.

His first couple of albums (maybe 3, not sure) are works of pure genius. But yeah, he is a pretentious a-word. And a New Jersey pretentious a-word, so really he’s got it in spades.

Keith Richards should know since he was around when Mozart started out. BS songs sounds like something a 15 year old boy writes after a class in poetry.

I’ve despised Springsteen since the first time I heard him.

“If there was anything better around, he’d still be working the bars of New Jersey.”

There's millions of players with more talent than that jackass. He writes stupid, simple songs and over-sings (screams) everything. He sucks. I've really never understood why anyone likes him.

“Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf came out in ‘68. Springsteen tried to copy that tune’s musicality and blue collar/biker ethic his entire career and failed miserably.

Springsteen sucks.

Apparently, Keith was always needed to be kept on a short leash:

But he loved his mama as long as she lived!

Richards savagely critiqued a plethora of his peers, such as Elton John and Prince

Sorry Keith, but Elton John and Prince are/were both massive talents. Far more talented than Springsteen. Prince is by far the most underrated guitarist in pop/rock and maybe the greatest rock/pop guitarist of all time.

Springsteen’s first 3 LPs before making the big time were very good. After that....crap. Endless hack work.

My opinion on his music is not influenced by the fact that he is ignorant leftist trash. I still enjoy those first 3 albums.
