Police found 150 skulls at a "crime scene" in Mexico. It turns out the victims, mostly women, were ritually decapitated over 1,000 years ago.

You are both right, in my opinion-my ancestors were mostly Spaniards-but there is enough Native American DNA in the mix starting about 400-500 years ago to make us non-nobles all “mestizos”-and those ancestors chose to move to what is now W Texas and NM-which was a frontier populated by Natives-including relatives of the displaced Aztecs, their bloodthirsty Apache cousins and others-before 1800 to get away from the Spanish govt which they were terrified of...

So a lot of common people considered a wilderness full of hostile Natives a better place to come and make a living than around the elites in the “civilized” interior of Mexico-can’t really blame them-the Spaniards had this thing called “the inquisition”, and they taught their Native captives some really interesting methods of torture, too-they were no better than the Native Americans, in my opinion-the best thing my Spanish ancestors ever did was leave the Spanish Pyrenees, get passage on a ship to the new world and widen their gene pool by breeding with some Native Americans and leave the corruption and cruelty of the Spanish ruling class behind...

My ancestors were mestizos and were oppressed-now gimme my reparations-I’m sure I must be owed some$$$$...

Me too-I watch “Apocalypto” just about every time it is on TV-even without all the blood, it would be a good action/suspense flick-what happened to the losers in those basketball games would make me want to avoid the sport-or battle with the Aztecs, for that matter......

Thank you-it just makes sense, based on human nature and historical facts-when it came to conquest and colonization, the Europeans weren’t any less bloody or cruel than the Native Americans-they were just a bit more subtle and refined-they practiced slavery on a grander scale than Native American tribes did, they tortured and murdered people for any of a dozen reasons-they just did it in dungeons in seclusion instead of in public-outside on a slab at a pyramid-it was just a brutal time in history, all about taking treasure from conquered and enslaved people, murder, rape and pillage, etc and no one had clean hands or altruistic motives-some people have a lot of trouble accepting that we were all total savages at some point in rather recent history-

I guess those same people think Rome had more noble motives than the tribes/groups of people in the rest of Italy, in Spain, France, parts of what is now Germany, Britain, Egypt, etc when they defeated them in battle with superior weapons, enslaved them, raped women, stole treasure-were horrified by their bloody punishments/human sacrifices and called them savages-then those civilized Romans kept them as slaves, sent them to the arena to fight for their lives/be killed as gladiators, be attacked and killed by wild animals for every minor thing-like having a different religion, being non-Roman, etc-for the entertainment of thousands of gleefully howling spectators-kind of like those fatal basketball games and other sacrifices going on in the Americas. Bread and circuses was/is the same everywhere...
