He didn't use the term "altar call". Abraham, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus all observed 40 day fasts. They just didn't call them "Lent".

Believers can meet any day or time of the week as they feel led.

And believers can also fast and pray for 40 days in preparation for Easter, and call it "Lent" if they like.

Stop using one set of standards for what is "Biblical" where Catholic beliefs and practices are concerned, and a different set of standards for yourselves.

Is this really your best argument??

Context is your friend in understanding Scripture.

True....as long as it's not mandated.

My standard is Scripture. I can point to the Bible for everything I believe whereas the RC cannot.

Why is denomination important to you? Wouldn’t a correct rendering of the Greek just be sufficient to show this common Biblical error of Lent having any truth to it....be enough?

The literal Greek reads the same for Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans and even Satan as well.

Douglas has masterfully rendered the correct translation of most of these “so called” proof scriptures to show they’re just “bunk”.

JWs have messed up John 1:1 with their translation of the Greek.

That's why it's important.

Well....now I understand why you are curious about denominations. Makes sense. My apologies.......

But....it still doesn’t justify observing man made “Religious observances” in lieu of the real thing. You can look from Genesis to Revelation and not find much of what modern day “Churchianity” observes....and believes.

The Holy Spirit chose Greek to protect the scriptures as it is a precise language....difficult to mistranslate.

But.....C’est la Vie!
