I lived with a bright pink outhouse for 3 years (wow just thinking of it now, I wonder how I survived that!)
Cost $150.00 from local party supply rental place. Pumping was $50.00. It wasn’t too bad. I found that even at 10 below, running to and from kinda kept me warm!
When I decided to go to 2nd world status, I sold it for $250.00. It being that awesome shade of pink, with the “Women” sign on it increased its value. The lady who bought it was going to use it at her husband’s deer camp...so more of the women would stay longer for hunting season.
Let’s just say no one appreciates indoor plumbing and electricity like me!!

That was not the only time I lived sort of “rough”.
Much easier than the time I lived someplace and used the great outdoors and a trowel, I guess for about a year.

Your roughing it illustrates a good point about modern living. Without the toilet skyscrapers, apartment buildings, dense city centers, office towers, big cities and safe living environments, i.e. clean water and removal of waste, would not be possible.
