This would/could only mean he was unwanted, thus doing the
necessary (just like the ‘little people’) to continue to earn a living and putting a roof over his head/food on the table. Just as those before him, “moving on up” isn’t all
it’s cracked up to be.

If you’re ever feeling depressed about your life, Chris Wallace just went to CNN on purpose.
Chris better save room in the unemployment line for his ol’ buddy Shep. Ratings for his CNBC newscast aren’t exactly robust, and they won’t keep him around for the tiny audience he’s delivering. Megyn Kelly somehow got NBC to give her a guaranteed, $60 million contract, so she can be a podcaster while the severance checks keep rolling in. Shep and Chrissy aren’t that lucky. Sure, they’ve got plenty of money, but they’re going to retire with severely deflated egos. And deservedly so.
