Go back to the ‘50s? they say it can’t be done.
How about just the 70s? Energy, Education and the EPA could all go away.
Any company would fire the whole mess of management if they had under-performed a tenth as bad as our government.
It has become nothing but a lucrative jobs program for Democrats - more of the eternal pension program from h*ll.
Get rid of the unions.
Then investigate it like the Dems are investigating the Jan 6 protesters. Make a mountain out of every molehill. (Will never happen of course)
Then break up DC and move the agencies (that are not shut down) out to North Dakota. And move them on Jan 21. The brisk weather will serve to keep them wonderfully focused.
If the US can shed (4,5) million jobs after Vietnam and WWII, then it is time to pare down the federal government.
If anyone needs an excuse, how about:
“We are broke as a country”
The legal tool to use is a quo warranto (by what authority?) used to remove elected officials. It is filed in a fed district court, naming the Senators and Representatives from the unlawful election. Those persons have no presumption of their office or innocence; they must prove the election was lawful, despite their courts stating it was not.
I haven't worked out how that would change the majority status, but likely Pelosi will lose the House chairmanship. That's a great start coming into the 2022 elections, right?
This. Would be a good start.
Add to that repealing legislation that expanded the meaning of Interstate Trade (just look up bills authored by Senator Snarling Arlen Specter) and ones that weakened the 10th Amendment.
There is another way but it would require that legislators and judges do what the average American does every day which is - we live within our means or we go bankrupt.
I would propose we eliminate the Fed, which is responsible for inflation, and return monetary control to the Treasury with the dollar being pegged to gold and silver.
I would propose legislation that "eliminates" all federal departments and agencies that have a counterpart at the state government level. E.g., Federal Bureau of Mines and PA Bureau of Mine Safety; Federal Department of Education and PA Department of Education - are a few examples of redundant Federal and State bureaucracies.
Eliminate all federal departments and agencies that have become obsolete or unneeded. E.g., Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Energy ...
Legislation that cuts the budgets of every remaining federal department and agency by 10% every year until we drastically reduce the national debt.
Tariff China and other nations to extreme levels to give Americans and American business the advantage in producing and selling products sold by our foreign competitors.
Tax U.S. billionaires and U.S. corporations with billion dollar plus profits at the 90% level every year UNTIL we drastically reduce the national debt.
Drastically cut or eliminate most foreign aid.
Thanks MtnClimber.
You have some ideas I agree with....(anything that reduces the size and scope of government) and you have some crazy ideas about taxing companies/individuals for being successful.
I don’t think it is possible to pay our debts even doing the things you say.
We MAY be able to make headway by selling off the assets of the federal government....including, land, mineral rights, grazing rights, water rights, national parks, etc. etc. This, couple with removal of impeding regulations, and this would unleash a wave of prosperity unmatched in our countrys history.
But we won’t do that, because it interferes with too many sacred cows.
So we are left with default. So one way or another, that’s what we will do.
