Speaking as a retired programmer, it would take a nuclear war to destroy my codes, as I used various methods, and locations to back up my code (and data). My rule of thumb was that if code has a certain value, you would expend 10% of the value of the code, protecting it.

Just read on ZDNet, it’s a router config problem. When they deployed the change, it whacked connectivity to Facebook, and as a result, the senior admins who could FIX it, don’t have connectivity to the routers to DO it. So, there’s on-sites being demanded, and to make things even happier, the card readers that govern building access are also offline.

Unless the FB powers that be are incredibly negligent and stupid, guaranteed the company has a disaster recovery protocol. So FB is not gone forever...again, unless whoever runs the company really is that negligent.

I have a backup stored on paper punchcards for them.
The price will be steep to give it to them however

Question out of sheer ignorance: It seems a bit of a coincidence (and although I don't believe in big conspiracies, neither do I believe in big coincidences) that Facebook would go down during the period between a whisteblower's appearance on a national tv show yesterday and their sworn deposition before Congress tomorrow.
Anything to this or am I just seeing a connection that's just not there?

I think it’s kind of hilarious that the security is so strong that the only people who are able to fix this can’t even get into the building. If true, they created their own monster.
