I think I figured out the mystery, we had looked at a house in Kingsport at one time. Put a bid on it, had it accepted, and then the inspector found Foundation issues. So we were real close to living there.
The owners didn’t want to come down in price at all or fix the foundation. About six months later they sold the house, for much less. Took them a while to accept there were defects, i guess.
It was in the neighborhood and I’m so glad you didn’t get it! Or many of the other houses we saw. We are much more comfortable in a rural setting.
