up to the owners to all pay for the repairs the building

Exactly, you definitely want to read those contracts.

True that.

Notice my comment was written in the middle of the night when I was up because I couldn't sleep. I plead guilty to being brain dead.

I have some good friends who were on that cruise. They got airlifted out by helicopter.

I watched the video’s at the time. That was a very very dangerous undertaking to lift people off the ship in that storm.

They were very fortunate that the entire ship and passengers were not lost. The anchors held or it would have happened. Very iffy event. And it was silenced very quickly after the tugs helped them. The crew really did a good job of getting it partially back under power. The generators and steering the pod drives were the issue. More computer controlled issues.

“ The generators and steering the pod drives were the issue. More computer controlled issues.”

I seem to remember that the issue was the maintenance protocol for the engines. The protocol called for maintaining the engine oil at a certain level between “full” and “add”. Well, in heavy seas, the oil level sensors thought that the oil was low and shut the engines down to protect them. The company subsequently changed the protocol to keep them fuller, so the rocking of the boat wouldn’t trip the sensor and cause shutdown.

Yes. And with no power they don’t have means to steer.

I think the crew themselves figured how to get the generators running again. (limited amount) But they were steering a ziz zag course out of necessity. Power on, Power off. etc.

Wonder how many of the residents were Section8s? The government since Obama has delighted in “financially integrating” comfortable residential areas. Trump fought against it, but it’s back with a vengeance now.

Your value if you don’t leave and it collapses?.....

Whatever payout your homeowner's insurance provides.

how many of the people that were squished were homeless or working poor?

None, at those prices per unit.

I'd say it is pretty safe to say zero. This was not an apartment complex but a condominium were units sold for $650k and upwards with penthouse units selling for over $1m

But some units were rented out. We pay steep dues in this community, but as soon as the HOA allowed renting out during the Bush-Obama recession when houses wouldn’t sell and people needed to move for work, the county stuck Section 8s in here, who do not bother with any stinkin’ by-laws.
