I have a friend who was walking on a path in the woods. He saw some small children playing in their back yard close by. A coyote came charging at him. He didn’t have a knife or a gun on him, so he began stomping the coyote. He eventually stomped it to death.
He thought, “Nobody’s going to believe this.” so he went back to his truck to get his phone so he could take a picture.
When he got back with his phone, the coyote was gone. Out of the corner of his eye he saw it charging him again. He stomped it to death again. This time he slit its throat and hung it in a tree.
They got the body and determined it was rabid.
Wow. Now that’s a crazy story. One that no doubt isn’t rare in the human encounters with rabid animals.
I see videos on YouTube all the time of wild foxes approaching people, who pet them and welcome them into their laps. Weirdest thing ever, and then I think, “Aren’t foxes and bobcats the most commonly rabid animals.... aside from bats?”

I don’t know whether bobcats are rabid more often than skunks, or if it’s just that there are so many more skunks around. I’m wary of skunks, too.
I thought the same. Seems odd to me.
That’s right. Thanks for saying it. Men are so brave...
