I climbed Precipice on MDI years ago...you fall from the upper part of that trail, and they’ll be cleaning you up with a spatula.
I day-hiked up Mt. Katahdin from its base in Baxter SP at age 42 when I was still in fairly good condition. Kicked my butt big time. Wouldn’t trade the memories for anything.
All of the houses on our street were vacant. The houses were built on high ground up a slope up from the street on both sides with the street at the bottom.
One winter Saturday night, we were going to visit friends off base for dinner. We called them and said we were leaving the house and should be there in about 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, there was black ice under a thin layer of snow and when I backed the car out of the driveway down the slope to the street, I couldn't stop the car and it kept going up the slope across the street into the yard of another house. The ice was so slick, I couldn't get the car to move. The rear wheels just spun.
We finally had to call our friends and cancel the dinner because we couldn't get out of our own street because of the black ice.
This is why we have lived in Arizona and Florida ever since.
Did they die “with Covid”?
Well they certainly had the comorbidities of height and gravity.
