IF they impeach him, then we can impeach Obama for lying many times to the American people.

Americans voted for O knowing that he would let us keep our doctor. He lied

This is just Nasty Pelosi trying to punish Trump for getting in the way of the democratic platform and her way for the last 4 years. She figures she can inflict him with slander for the way he led the country. He led the country in a way that will be remembered fondly in the future, especially after Biden is done making a mess of things. Pelosi is just that, Nasty!

Where have you been? Since when has the law mattered to our lords in Washington DC.
I would look at 2 impeachments as a victory. He should display those like trophies. If they manage to convict him this time, the punishment may be not being allowed to run again. But if he wins the primary, what are they going to do? Decide to uphold the law this time?
I think we might just walk into the capitol and burn the damn place down. Again.

>>> What are you doing here, then?

Good question. This place is as dead as the GOP.

If there is a conviction, the Senate votes again. By a simple majority vote the convicted person ...

I see ONE vote not two. See Article I, Section 3, Para 6,7.

You’re right. Only one vote is mentioned. But the Senate has always taken two votes in cases like these. One vote to convict. And then another vote to bar the individual from future federal office.

And it gets even more interesting. It takes a 2/3 majority to convict, but only a simple majority to bar the individual from future federal office. Yet that simple majority rule is nowhere mentioned in the Constitution!

The Senate has evidently made up its own rules here.

Side note: Three federal judges have been barred from future office this way. The Supreme Court has never interfered with the Senate’s procedure. So I guess they are okay with it.
