Kyler's gonna be one of the all-time greats, on the field.
Most unfortunate that he's "woke".
Yeah, football isn’t played for bettors. It is played to win games. You run out of bounds instead of scoring, because then you can run down the clock while you control the ball. You score, then you have to kick to the other team, if they score they can do an on-sides kick, and might recover it and score again. Your 7 points isn’t worth the possibility of 14 points against you, when you don’t need it.
Most of the reason for the popularity of the NFL has to do with gambling, both legal and illegal...and fantasy football.
People are always going to gamble and the lines on NFL games are easy to understand and it attracts all kinds of people....
Now with the internet and things like Draft Kings and Fan Duel, allowing online wagers of large sums of money on fantasy football, the NFL isn’t going anywhere...
That exact scenario happened this year when Todd Gurley of the Falcons was told not to score, get the 1st down but then fall down and the Falcons could run out the clock...
Instead when he fell down it was right on the goal line, giving the ball back to the Lions who went down and scored the winning TD on the last play of the game....
That meaningless TD cost the Falcons the game...
Finally some bad luck you can’t blame on Soros or the Chinese.
Not anymore, the NFL moved the PAT back to the 15 yard line in 2016 I think and allowed it to be run back for 2 points if it’s blocked, that’s why the Cardinals elected to take a knee....
The NFL also requires teams to attempt a PAT even with no time on the clock because totals points and point differential are tie breakers in determining who makes the playoffs, etc..
Why take the chance? Secure the win.
“Possible, but there’s a 98% chance against that happening.”
Yeah, and if it happens, the coach is probably out of a job soon.
There was a game winning last second Hail Mary pass today. Those almost never work either.
Widespread kneeling at the end of games occurred after this game on November, 19th, 1978:
The Falcons lost TWO games this year they had a greater than 99% chance of winning.
Not coincidentally, the head coach for those two games is not currently employed.
I can't blame Kliff Kingsbury for his decision.
He should have scored the touchdown to put the game out of reach.
PERIOD.
What a marron.
What if they had fumbled and the other team scored?
They changed that rule. NFL to lengthen extra point attempts, allow defense to score on two-point plays
I think you are leaving something out. If the Falcons were already winning and got a TD, once score wouldn’t be enough. Was their an onside kick?
Because if blocked and run back by the defense akk the way, then you have a 32-32 tie. Made perfect sense.
Here is the article describing what happened
