Exactly!
But why do we let them get away with it?
Your opinion is not well founded and if you really understood how repair of a device like this works.
First, I would posit that Hunter had at least one with him in the bathtub that went for a swim when he passed out. The nature of the information tells me that it was running when it went in the drink and fried components.
I have been in the repair side of the industry since 1978 and have seen just about every permutation of failure and causes including a hols the size of a golf ball blown from an internal component due to ground faults.
More recently I have replaced Hard Drives for customers most typically to get more time from the unit as in putting in an SSD. This procedure was a migration but often the original drive or system had issues rendering the core unit unusable and moving the data from the drive to a whole new unit. I would posit that the drive that would not come up may have been in the unit that would not come up due to immersion in the tub. The only way to even attempt to recover is too long to document but in a case where there are no other copies you go into a deep forensic procedure. Think hammered hard drives & Hillary. In that case it is a crap shoot that you will ever get everything. This requires the drive itself to be opened and platters/components (SSD) to be walked through manually.
Additionally when the unit was brought in for troubleshooting and repair if possible the contact information, terms of service and payment (deposit, remainder upon return etc) are discussed with the client and their signature is acceptance of same. Otherwise you can spend many hours or even days trying many permutations to even get close.
So when Hunter brought them in there is no guarantee that all of or even some of the data and unit are recoverable. As they were not under warranty it is Time & Materials based and no guarantee of success. When customers hear the estimate it is not unusual to have them say no thanks and abandon the device.
And last to your “opinion” the individual bringing in the unit is provided a full procedure on payment terms etc. If Hunter signed after the owner walked him through this then that includes contact info etc. We call this T&C (Terms and Conditions) and until that occurs the unit never comes into the shop unless an evaluation fee has been paid or agreement on it signed off. Calling someone else whom you posit has authority to take alternate possession is not something I would do as the data and it’s provenance and content are not just something you just hand over. Last when you are scanning and attempting to replicate the drive tools used to repair or copy may find files but when you try to access them they may be damaged beyond recovery or use, have seen it many times.
Your last comment bears truth, especially when images are concerned. You can see the “file” but when you try to view it no go or it is pixelated or unviewable. I am sure his mind was blown when the first ones came up and he realized holy cow this is dangerous. The only person authorized per the agreement to pick up the device was the signer of the contract, unless Law Enforcement gets involved.
Hunter never responded and under Delaware law the unit was abandoned and all bets are off
Too many pronouns. I got lost in a wave of he, him and that guy without being positive to whome they refer.
Not enough dates on the timeline.
Confusion between the physical computer and hard drive vs. copy of the data. Guiliani couldn't have the hard drive if the FBI already had it.
None of those are critical and are to be expected in an interview rather than written timeline.
Very iteresting bits:
Hunter's lawyers called various Delaware repair shops trying to find the disk. Time of that is unknown - is that recent, right after the 90 day limit or within the 90 day limit.
The Bidens' attorneys asked for the drive back on Wednesday or Thursday right before the Post released this story.
It wasn't clear whether they were careful not to claim it was Hunter's computer which would indicate panic in a rush to cover this up. Lawyers are usually very careful not to claim ownership on criminal tools or proceeds lest that claim be used as evidence.
Bannon claimed to have more to trap the Bidens in their lies.
Things start to get new and interesting around 14:30 on the video.
I think it is now evident why the FBI arrested Bannon & company.
They needed to sully their name as they likely caught wind that this was blowing wide open and yet another black mark would besmirch the increasingly disgusting FBI.
As a kid the FBI were my super hero law enforcement. Today, they are the lowest form of scum.
And they wonder why decent people are losing faith in law enforcement.
Look in the mirror Wray!
I’m wondering how much of Steve Bannon’s arrest in late August is related to this instead of the reasons we were told.
I'm going to assume money is no object for a man making $60,000 a month - even if he has to kickback a portion to his father.
Knowing that why would he choose to abandon the computer? Did he feel if all of it couldn't be recovered it would be junked? And once abandoned - as you say - all bets are off. Is Hunter just lazy and/or stupid or concerned with paying a bill for time and effort when he couldn't get his computer back? What's your best guess?
25 Things I Trust Before Hunter Or Joe Biden....
Gas station sushi
Jill Biden with a double barrel 12-gauge
Bloomberg with my guns
Bought and paid for MSNBC
Ghislane Maxwell tutoring my daughter
From a known source I follow, and I have discussed this aspect with others...
Hunter may be the “fall Guy” for “Pops”
How do you inform your target(s) [’business partners’] what you have?
Why would H. Biden have such material on his laptop?
How was the content *originally* received?
Email?
Why would H. Biden risk turning over such material to a computer repair shop? [contents unrestricted?]
On purpose [years of being treated poorly by ‘Pop’] or simple negligence?
If such information existed on laptop why wouldn’t contents be claimed?
Several attempts made to contact to claim?
Messages left?
Why wouldn’t H. Biden want to reclaim *knowing* the contents on the drive could bury *Pops* & family.
A troubled life?
A troubled family?
Looks can be deceiving.
Also search on the Net for Hunters message to His daughter relating how HALF of all he made went to “The Big Guy” AKA Joe his father and that he had been carrying that “water” for decades
In short Hunter knew He was gonna take the fall as he had lived as “the other son” since the begining and after Beau died he was it
Seems strange to some but having a sister (middle) who was referred to by our mother as “The other daughter” and the youngest was the darling it resonated with me. That sister could never get the acceptance the youngest one did and my older sister got essentially the same treatment. Mom is gone now but the youngest one controls her house etc.
So in conclusion Hunter may have realized he could never be more than a “rented mule” to “Pops”, let alone what he saw growing up out of the bright lights of the news media while “Pops the Pedo” was in the limelight
That's psychologically consistent with the facts on the table. Also it might have been a somewhat subconscious choice (to take and abandon a computer that hot) because there are better ways to 'get even' with a cruel father who lives in the limelight. This path (dropping off the computer) allows a troubled person to give themselves wiggle room to protect themselves from who they really are.. . Interesting and insightful comment there 100American... Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the input. It is fun to speculate. I am a retired IT guy from a big organization so didn’t have to deal with “legal” customer agreements.
Let’s say the laptop was the property of the University of Delaware. Would the computer repair shop have the right to claim ownership after 90 days if nobody called about it even if their is a sticker that say property of UD?
JMHO but when possession of the property is given to a repair facility and the only way the shop can “guarantee” the payment for services is by holding the item in lieu of payment.
After the agreement is signed then possession of the “asset” is transferred to the repair facility until an acceptable method of compensation is provided as [ayment for service. If it is an “estimate” service prior to parts replacement etc. the same holds true as a guarantee so they do not get stiffed. It is typically expressed to the customer when the unit is taken in and if they refuse to pay then it is held for a period of time and then disposed of as needed to recover costs
In this case the sticker means only that initially it was an asset (monetary value) but it means nothing if the entity is no longer in business. The person representing them is responsible for the payment whether personally or via an approved method by an agent with the authority to have the item and provide monies for the work performed. Another aspect is if this is an exploratory one (how much to fix) then the cost is open ended as one part replaced may expose another’s weakness and it is left up to the provider and the “owner/user” to determine what finished means.
Being that this is an Apple product they are famous for data loss not being covered, only return to out of the box function and they provide little if any help in data recovery. I am sure those here with iPhones will back this up as well as the many videos of people who will do this when Apple has refused and then Apple comes after them. A business ploy and the ideal is to put all of your files in a “cloud” environment, return it to factory refresh and the data if not backed up locally on a device (USB drive etc.) which is the customers responsibility or in the cloud is not going to be recovered. They will load a fresh OS on it and validate basic functions but anything else (Apps, files etc) is gone
An unanswered question is was the drive internal or external, I posit it was the internal one and they will perform as detailed above and recovery of your data is your responsibility. I feel that he (Hunter) did not do cloud backup or we would not be having this discussion and He did so to keep the stuff on there safe from investigation. If it was on an external drive the same holds true, they will only take it back to factory state and no responsibility to anything external recovery onto the system
I have been where the servicer was many times with a frantic customer hoping that their files can be put back on but I would never unless royally compensated even attempt to reload all the apps and then reconnect data structures to them (external or cloud). If I was to do so, I would load a fresh O/s, hook up the internal to an external and see what I could recover using software tools I have to do so but it is a crap shoot as to what is on the drive and what it belonged to on the system. If the drive started internal I would NEVER reload the OS without a scan with it hoked up externally to determine quality and quantity and leave it that way until the client could figure it out. The fact that they all talk about the “drive” tells me that they were installing a new one internally and hoping to migrate files on the original back on or provide access to them as an external storage device.
Sorry for the long response, been in the game for a long time at a commercial and personal pc level.
Hope this helps
Last, no matter what I can try to recover files but I will never take responsibility for the success/failure of the activity but always do my best
That’s why I am called the Bulldog, I get my teeth into it and use all my experience to do the best for the customer
But they will pay for it or I stop and hold until they do
Bulldog Over and Out
you said: “I am of the opinion that he never tried to contact Hunter.”
I doubt it from the background I’ve read of him. Especially the one who knew him for 20 years. That counts for something.
Not all people are as unprincipled as the #ComDems. Especially Veterans.

With the work completed, Mr. Mac Isaac prepared an invoice, sent it to Hunter Biden and notified him that the computer was ready to be retrieved. Hunter did not respond. In the ensuing four months (May, June, July and August), Mr. Mac Isaac made repeated efforts to contact Hunter Biden. Biden never answered and never responded. More importantly, Biden stiffed John Paul Mac Isaaci.e., he did not pay the bill.
I’ve read and listened to all this stuff. It doesn’t change my opinion. Computer guy is a patriot even if he fudged some details....
The explosion is growing.
