Iceberg warnings but full speed ahead!
Ive heard that the theory at that time was to spend as little time as possible in the danger area, hence full speed. Which makes a certain sense, but has its own dangers - as the Titanic discovered.

If Titanics compass error were only 0.5°, she would have been off her course for around 9 m over 1 km of the run. This apparently insignificant error could have made the difference between colliding with the iceberg and avoiding it...”

Of course there is no way to tell if the ship was on course because it sank ...

How true. See what hubris does? That’s what sank the Titanic.

EVERYBODY knows it was HUBRIS that sunk the Titanic. (If not God Himself).
The stars could never again be so aligned as the night Titanic sunk.
Just coincidences? Seems very unlikely.
UNSINKABLE! And God said “oh yeah?”
Why do we need ANY lifeboats on an unsinkable ship?

Titanic CHANGED course. Maybe they shouldn’t have. They wouldn’t have hit THAT iceberg.
Most other ships STOPPED! Titanic couldn’t do THAT! We are setting a new record! THAT they accomplished.

Makes no sense.

Hubris along with a healthy dose of negligence.

Makes no sense.
The less time you spend in a dangerous area, the better.

“The less time you spend in a dangerous area, the better.”
So, how fast do you drive through school zones with heavy fog conditions?
