You sir, are a gold plated asshole. Forget the White House, what about overseas? They don’t even have to physically have him. They just need to electronically muzzle him, like they will you, me, any threats. You try to pass yourself as some kind of “inside authority”. In the very unlikely case that happens to be and you don’t see the will and capacity to do this on left, then its no wonder the “inside authorities” F’d this country up like it is.

The problem you, and all loyal troops would face in a true military coup led by renegade general officers, would be distinguishing truth from falsehood, understanding the actual situation, and knowing who to trust.

I've been wargaming this for a number of years.

Suppose you command a company of Marines stationed within the National Capital Area. You are awakened at 2 AM by a phone call from your battalion CO. "Terrorists have attacked the White House, the President and Vice President are in danger. Terrorists dressed as US Army soldiers are moving towards the Key Bridge. Deploy to 34th and M in Georgetown, block the DC end of the bridge, and destroy any forces on the bridge".

You turn on the radio - silence. You try to log on to your intranet - it's down. You have to decide whether or not to move out.

What do you do?

Of course, the "terrorists" dressed as Army soldiers ARE IN FACT Army soldiers, coming to rescue the President. But first, they have to go through a company of US Marines.

If the Marine captain go a call saying "Go overthrow the government and capture the President", well, obviously that would not happen.

But that's not how it will go down.
