Stories like this are fun to read when one has been lacking sufficient ammo storage space since before the first Obama inauguration while also having comfortable levels of toilet paper and coins.

I read yesterday that industry experts predict, that even with a Trump win in November, the ammo supply isn’t likely to recover for at least 24 months. Locally ammo is being limited to 100 rounds per caliber per day. Our local big spring good store is still getting regular shipments of high demand calibers, but it seems out quickly. You have to be willing to check for and daily (sometimes multiple times per day). .223/5.56 is going for .45-.50 cents per round. 9mm is going for .40 cents per round. I’m glad I have six rifles in 6.5 Grendel... apparently nobody else around here likes it since there is plenty on the shelf.

My local gun store is rationing purchases. For example, 5.56 purchases is limited to 20 rounds. Awful. Thank goodness I bought 2000 rounds with my Covid money at a reasonable per round cost.

I pity new gun buyers. They’re getting hosed.

My city has a gun show every weekend. I have enough rounds already to melt the barrels on every gun I have.....

Déjà vu...

The unwashed have not recognized there have been ammo and ammo component shortages on and off since the Obama era.

If some people are desperate for ammo, they’re most likely too stupid to use it.

Maybe find an “obscure ammo” supply first and buy a gun to match? Or look at multi-caliber guns and convertibles where it might shoot one ammo you can find and then others when you can get it (judge, governor in 45acp/.410, for example). Lots of options for Magnum guns shooting a lower velocity round in same chamber, but often these will be revolvers and lever guns. Smith vxr Magnum shoots dang near any .45 cal ammo.

In the last ammo shortage I found .357 Sig when all mainstream options were out. Had a Glock in .357Sig and with a barrel change can shoot .40S&W as well.

Last few places I visited had shotgun ammo on the shelves, could always buy a snotty and preserve pistol ammo you have in shorter supply. Lots of options for loads, too.

Shelves have been bare here since lockdown started. Academy has nothing, a few rifle rounds, maybe a dozen of oddball pistol rounds lkke 38 super. No 9mm at all, no 357, 38. 40, 45, no 22 even, not even 22 shorts...

Pawn shop where I got my G2C had a few 9mm, guy hadn’t got price tags on all when I grabbed one...next day all gone. Odd brand I never heard of, he said that’s all he could get. They have a few pricey 22 rounds, can’t keep 9mil or 45, one box limit. Pistols fly off the shelf. Usually at least 5 people looking when I walk in. And this is not a huge town, under 50,000.

Another local guy had some 16 ga buckshot, I grabbed another box, and the last box of 9mm Academy had a week ago. Ammo snobs are a thing of the past, you grab whatever they have or go home without.

Same story everywhere. Guy 45 miles from here, small place, can’t find reloading primers, he’ll have to come here for them. Told me it’s the same there, bare shelves.

But don’t kid yourselves that liberals are not also armed. Remember the AK 47 guy in Austin? Video of black militant group? Why do you think Hill and Billary had to tone down their gun control rhetoric? When they tried to pass the Brady bill they found out a lot more democrats than they ever imagined were pissed, they like to hunt deer too...Hillary spent most of a speech trying to make it sound like less of a total gun ban than it really was, to placate their base. If they had got their way we’d be able to own nothing but single shot shotguns now...but they found out democrats at home did not like that.

Same today, lots of 1st time buyers are democrats, and some old timers. I have immediate family members who are lifetime democrats and carry pistols in the car.

Don’t think it’s going to be a cake walk...

Remember the 1st rule of combat...

Never underestimate your adversary...
