My ESL teacher has told me that the word “Black” is nowdays offensive. However she hasn’t provided an alternative. So, this is funny: there are Black people, but there is no a word for them.
I’ve lived long enough that I’ve been brainwashed to conform my speech to call the black man multiple terms as the “right way” to refer to them. Negro (just before my time), Black (70s), African American (80s), etc; I studiously avoided the term “black” in deference to them, not even wanting to order coffee “black” but as plain so as to not provide offense.
I don’t care anymore. I refuse to be thought controlled anymore so “black” it is.
At least we don’t have those drama queens here.
