Last weeks news
Wonder why this is an “unnamed” suspect???
Oh crap, I have to work overtime tonight!.
Just a man. No race involved - not like that evil Trump ordering white police to kill black men with a dog whistle.
Victim was white; even if he had died, this story would have been buried.
It took this long to arrest him?
I was hoping that this week’s news would be an announcement of that facility being shut down with all residents transferred. At very least, I hoped to hear of some ‘sudden’ resignations of management.
Where’s the looting party?
BS
There is no way that the staff did not notice cuts and bruises on that man.
They were just hoping or expecting that it would go no further than the doors of nursing home.
And after the news did get out, they had no choice but to claim ignorance. Not reporting the beating is a crime.
No Justice, No Peace /s
Let’s go look Target and burn down buildings and stuff.
Gretch the Wretch’s fault.
I need me a big screen TV and an ATM!
I just got wind of it. It is terrible that our elderly are treated like this. Little thug needs his ass kicked.
OK now I have (2) wishes ... 15 minutes alone in a locked room with Brennan, followed by 15 minutes locked in a room alone with this cretin.
Well since the elderly are locked in assisted living worse than prisoners.
No family or friends allowed in to check on them. Horrible and must stop.

18 May: The American Conservative: Hate Crimes & Hate Misdemeanors
by Rod Dreher
Wall Street Journal columnist Gerard Baker says that the Ahmaud Arbery story is once again teaching us a lesson about what we can and cannot say about race and crime in America. Its behind the paywall, the column, but here is an excerpt:
“You probably havent heard of Paul and Lidia Marino. The couple, 86 and 85 years old, were shot dead a week ago while visiting a veterans cemetery in Bear, Del., where their son, who died in 2017, is buried. The authorities have so far been unable to establish a motive for the killing, but they identified a suspect, Sheldon Francis, a 29-year-old black man, later found dead after an exchange of fire with the police.
“As far as I can tell, from news databases and online searches, other than local newspapers and TV, and a brief story by the New York Post, the death of the Marinos, who were white, has gone as unremarked as their lives. Mr. Arberys death, by contrast, has become one of those crimes that some who control our public discourse have decided is a ‘teachable moment.’
“Millions of words have been devoted to exploring and explaining the moral of the killing. It has been widely described as a lynching. We have been reminded once again of the prevalence of unequal and violent treatment of minorities. Weve been told once again that the killing reflects the daily reality of life in America for young blacks. This teaching moment has turned into a continuous, ubiquitous lecture series on the unalterably racist nature of America.”...

apart from NY Post, DM was the only MSM to follow up with the murdered couple’s family:
16 May: Daily Mail: PICTURED: Army veteran, 86, and his wife, 85, who were ‘executed’ in random act of violence while visiting their son’s grave - as they’d done at least 1,000 times since he died of cerebral palsy in 2017
Paul, 86, and Lidia Marino, 85, were shot and killed at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery last Friday
The couple were visiting the grave of their son, Anthony, 54, who died in 2017
Heartbroken sons, Ray and Paul Jr, revealed their parents had visited their brother’s gravesite daily
Police identified the shooter as Sheldon C. Francis, 29, of Middletown
He was found dead from a gunshot wound six hours later in a wooded area

An elderly couple who were gunned down at a veteran’s cemetery in Delaware last week had been visiting their son’s grave at the time, their heartbroken children have revealed...
The two revealed their mother and father were at the cemetery that morning as part of their daily ‘ritual’ of visiting their brother Anthony’s grave.
Anthony, the couple’s youngest son, was born with cerebral palsy and died from complications in March 2017 at the age of 54.
Although Anthony did not serve in the military, cemetery rules allowed his father, a peacetime army veteran in the 1950s, to bury one minor child or child with disabilities at the site.
The parents had been visiting the burial plot every day ever since.
‘It was like a regimen. Mom and Dad visited my brother’s grave every single day, without fail, unless there was inclement weather. They usually went there in the morning,’ Ray the Newark Post on Wednesday.
‘I’ve been trying to figure all this out in my head, but there are some things we are just never going to know,’ he added.
When news of the shooting broke last week, Ray’s brother Paul Jr, a maintenance manager, was at work at the time.
His parents’ were such well-known visitors of the cemetery, coworkers immediately reached out, prompting Paul to immediately call his parents but he did not get a response.
‘I went into my office and started watching all of the news about it,’ he said. ‘I could see my dad’s station wagon parked at the cemetery. Then I knew.’
Delaware State Police told the family the gunman had shot the couple with a handgun at a close range.
‘He shot our dad in the back of the head and then he shot our mom,’ Ray said.
‘We don’t know if he shot our mom first in front of our dad or if he shot our dad first in front of our mom. We don’t even know if they saw him.’
The elderly couple were well into their 80s at the time of their deaths, but their sons said Lidia, a former homemaker and seamstress, and Paul Sr, were very healthy and active and had a least ‘five or 10 more years’ left.
‘I thought they would die from natural causes someday not be executed by a stranger in a cemetery,’ he said...
