You are right, Big John was one of the first real receiver tight ends. What happened to Jerry Smith, I liked that guy, but nasty old AIDS got him. He was a pretty tough guy, but he got Rock Hudson Syndrome.
When Shula defected to the Dolphins, that was pretty tough to take for a Colt fan living in Miami, not to mention the Colts being exiled to the AFC East...then when Earl Morrall, Norm Bulaich, and Don Nottingham all got pilfered, my hatred for the Dolphins reached epic proportions!
