If you look at the head of the “Covid 19 Deaths” column, you’ll notice a tiny number 1 next to (U07.1)
What you find out about (U07.1) is that it reports deaths that are “virus identified” by lab testing.
But the CDC also uses another “Covid 19 Deaths” number, one called (U07.2). The (U07.2) number is “virus not identified” because lab confirmation isn’t available.
And not surprisingly the (U07.2) Covid 19 Deaths number is larger for the very same time period.
So you need to pay attention to which version of the CDC Covid Deaths you are looking at.
I suspect that someone named Dinesh didn’t bother to find out why there is a footnote.
