If I were, I would have my stepdaughter use her badge to get me excess goodies. I don’t.

were you unaware of what your job entailed? You take advantage with your privilege and rightly arrest those who assume special privilege for themselves.

I read it that “Rey” is complaing that he has to run from store to store just trying to find the items that YOU can buy early and YOU are not limited. How does that make “Rey” a hoarder?

I note those with weak arguments are the first to resort to name calling.

Did you read what I wrote?

I didn’t tell anyone to do something that I myself haven’t done.

I’m serious, if the life is such a struggle as you make it out to be they need to make a change.

I did, and as a father it’s your duty to help them get in gear instead of bitching.

The job required inspection of, weighing, and directing. dozens of trucks daily including verifying ID of drivers from all over North America with many having little English.

For less pay and certainly less benefits than police.

Sounds like you're a gate guard at a cargo depot/pier.

You compare that to a LEO who people shoot at for fun?

What you probably should have done, is become a LEO, unless you didn't for some reason. Why didn't you?

Don't compare yourself to people who've decided to put their life on the line for law and order for everyone.

When I was in the Corps, former Marines were former Marines. Yes, they were always addressed as Marines, but referred to themselves as former Marines knowing they were no longer doing what was required of Marines. If I referred to myself as Marine, you might mistakenly think of me as an active duty Marine. It wasn’t until the 90s that they became forever fulltime Marines, or what back then we laughingly referred to as professional vets trying to squeeze every last dime they can on their prior service something I swore never to be.

That's what you said . Most americans don't rely on you for care and protection , because you don't do either. You only say you do , but that is a lie. You used to be called Peace Officers , and that's what you did, kept the piece . Not you're called Law Enforcement Officers,LEO, and you're merley revenue collector for the State. I'm not interested in your bleating lies.

I'm not a grammar NAZI, but I've read this three times and it's totally incoherent.

I've been a LEO for 14 years, you have NO idea what I do, I guess you take care of Premature Infants, that's a scary thought.

You don't have any idea what you're trying to think, much less what you're trying (and failing) to express.

And if you understood anything about leadership, you would understand what I am saying but sadly they do not teach leadership in the academy.

If you were told to do something that violated the constitution, would you risk your job? Would you sacrifice your profession to uphold the constitution you swore to defend? Most officers, sadly, are more interested in their job than in their sacred oath.

We are paying your pensions which are huge compared to any other kind of gov’t worker and your overtime.

WRONG.

It's impossible for you to say that, as you don't know exactly what I do.

If you don’t like the bargain you are getting from the work you are free to do something else and if you are not being paid appropriately, you should do something else.

I am so glad that the Americans who man our armed forces don't think the way you do. Personally, I think Americans who believe our military is a bunch of chumps or idiots without any other choice, are in the minority.

We are told daily they are our community leaders, they are our heroes, they are the best among us. Leaders, heroes, the best, don’t seek nor take special privilege.

Let’s see:

Google news search on “Police Leaders”

Lives lost.

Steps to address police staffing shortages.

Ambridge, Aliquippa Chiefs pass away within hours of one another.

Hibbing Police prepare for COVID-19.

Blue Help focuses on reducing officer suicide.

Guess your daily announcements aren't covered anywhere else. Just like your ex-Marine service.

Wore a badge for small department 30 years ago. Didn’t like being told to give special privileges to certain members of the community.
Personally responded to domestics, breaking, fires(had the thrill of huge ball of fire blowing past BEHIND me as checking house for residents -reached that door by running across burning deck., disarmed knife-wielding intoxicated man, confronted armed trespassers. engaged high speed pursuits of stolen car and late-night vandals. Left out drug surveillance. But ran afoul of politics and unable to move to larger department s due to physical requirements.

Admittedly was only shot at once by irate man with shotgun not close or well aimed.

So I think I have an idea of the hazards. And one can die just as easily from hazmat.Plus now doing daily screwing and temperature of persons means I,and others who must deal with public, are exposed as much as anyone.

Not claiming I am special. There are millions of people like me doing our jobs, paying our taxes and not thrilled to hear people with special powers and privileges complain.

Of course not. My Oath is my Word, it's my Integrity. There is no price on that.

I was raised by two Military Officers, have had more (by a long shot) Military members in my family than non-Military, and the majority of the rest are LEO.

We know that no Marine would ever call themselves an "ex-Marine" (dating back to Grandfather in WWII).

You, sir, are a fraud.

Shame on you for desparaging those who sacrifice for your health and safety, and trying to rob them of their honor in service.

You must be a wonderful officer the way you resort to name calling expressing your anger. Not a good quality in an officer. It also suggests that you seek your validation from without rather than within. Another poor quality in an officer but I have every confidence you will take this to heart and improve.

I do truly appreciate your input on this matter and the job you do, I just don’t think you are deserving, nor are any of us of special favors, treatment, or recognition. Without the guys at the steel mills, the farmer, the guys on the on derricks, the sanitation workers and a myriad of other professions, you would be nothing rather than the important member of society you are supposed to be.

Best of luck to you.

"Here in Florida (Tampa, Hillsboro county), a grocery chain is giving front-line people (first responders) free groceries.

Those are the people that still have jobs and are less needy than those stuck at home without jobs. "

My son in law who is an EMT/Firefighter in UpState South Carolina. He scored $300 free groceries last night. I like my son in law but he is not in need and is not exactly on the front lines of the covid19 battle. The bottom line is that the grocer (Bi-Lo) is virtue signaling.

She’s selfish. No respect for her.

No, the selfish ones are the ones that won't come to work for fear of catching the virus, which causes her to have to work double shifts. As such, she doesn't have the luxury of all that spare time everyone else has right now to shop. So, they welcome her to the front of the line. It's called "gratitude" and not respect. She earned the respect long before COVID got here.

The difference lies in whether the special consideration is freely given or is demanded.
One is good ,the other troubling.

There’s only about 3,000 of us.
I guard my identity closely, and won’t narrow it down by a factor of tens of thousands.
I do exactly what I describe.

I guess you only guard your identity closely on the internet and not when you’re trying to extract undeserved freebies by virtue of your membership in the inner party.
