Why Did Russia Just Halt Domestic Gold Purchases?
As the gold market continues to deal with global liquidity issues, and virus-lockdown-related disruptions between paper and physical pricing as extremely high physical demand creates shortages, Russia made a surprise announcement on Monday
Starting April 1, Russia will be suspending its domestic gold purchases:
“Since April 1, 2020, the Bank of Russia has suspended the purchase of gold in the domestic precious metals market.
Further decisions on the purchase of gold will be made depending on the development of the situation in the financial market...” Russia’s central bank said.
In recent years, as Kitco notes, the Russian central bank has dominated the gold market, consistently increasing its gold reserves every month for the last three years. According to data from the World Gold Council, the Russian central bank bought 158.1 tons last year. The WGC data shows that the central bank bought 8.1 tons of gold in January.
Although Russia will not be adding to its gold reserves in the near future, analysts are not expecting the central bank to start selling its gold anytime soon.

Has anyone heard where Mike Bloomberg is hiding?
Russia Sends “Very, Very Large Planeload” Of Masks, Medical Equipment To US
Reporters hounded President Trump during yesterday’s White House press conference about a Monday phone conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the two leaders agreed to hold talks about the chaos in the oil market. And in a gesture of goodwill, Russia - which has only recently started to report large numbers of COVID-19 cases - is sending a military transport plane full of “medical equipment and masks” to aid American governors like Andrew Cuomo in their time of need.
Putin offered to send the aid during Monday’s call, while the two leaders discussed how best to respond to the virus, according to Reuters.
Trump’s decision top accept the aid, which was organized by the Russian defense ministry, is likely to be unpopular with the president’s critics who seemingly jump on any sign of warming relations between Trump and Putin, and argue that Moscow uses these shipments as a “propaganda tool”. Some critics even went so far as to speculate that it might be a “spy operation.

Good morning Jessi. I had an egg sandwich for supper last night. One of my favorite choices. I put bread and butter pickles on the sandwich. How are you and hubby doing?
Trust, but verify. Just like those testing kits China sent to Spain & Italy - they might be sabotaged.
Tks...prayers for vipper. You be careful yourself. Please rest in between times.
I saw that. Explains a lot.
No, but I'm sure he is in his germ-free bunker surrounded by all the HCQ drugs his money can buy.

viewers the briefings have a tendency to veer in a lot of different directions, not all of them informative or relevant....If it veers too much off, we will break off.

Could you please voice your opinion here. I would really appreciate your wisdom in an area I’m really uneducated in. Good morning.
Very good question!!
Joe Scarborough: ‘Everybody Saw This Coming in January’ (De Blasio Didn’t)
There’s not just a coronavirus epidemic. There’s apparently also an outbreak of amnesiaand we’re not only talking about Joe Biden.
On today’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough, criticizing President Trump, said:
“We’ve heard, Zeke Emanuel, that nobody could have seen this coming. The fact is, everybody saw this coming. Everybody saw this coming in early January.”
What? Did Scarborough forget what NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Scarborough’s own show on March 10th: March 10th! Here was de Blasio speaking to Morning Joe’s Willie Geist:
We are better off keeping our society together, our economy together, our schools open. We’re better off not closing larger events. Because from what we’re seeing, you dont get this disease by walking into an arena where someone else in that arena has it . . . So I think there’s an overreaction
So according to Scarborough, it’s Trump’s fault for not acting sooner. But de Blasio, on Morning Joe, scoffing at the risks a full two months after the early-January date when Scarborough claims “everybody saw this coming?” Crickets.
Note: whereas Scarborough claims that “everybody saw this coming” in early January, the earliest mention we can find Scarborough making of the disease was in his tweet of February 24th
I don’t think that Russia has any reason to send us tainted medical equipment. Of course, it needs to be tested before use. China, on the other hand......
That’s a good point. Trump is so vigorous that I forget he’s a senior citizen, plus some. I guess the gray hair now will help remind me.
Me too! The doctor in Winston-Salem put my appointment off until June! That’s a long time away, considering my vision went from 20/20 TO 20/100 in 3 months before I got these new glasses. I just have to pray that the stability I have now stays on. I think I’m still seeing legal enough to drive, 20/30-40. Of course with no optometrist open the police can’t tell me that I knew I couldn’t see. Okay maybe that’s not a valid excuse.
Whenever I get to have the surgery it will just be outpatient. Apparently it only takes 5 minutes. Of course there’s lots of prep time before and after.
How are you feeling? Are you okay with putting your surgery off?
